Kobold

Kobolds live in the Apps Mountains and exist in an assortment of tribes. Like the feared orc and goblin raiders, the kobolds frequently strike at human, dwarf, or gnome homesteads and settlements. Unlike the other raider tribes however, the aggression of the kobolds is dependent on the proximity of nearby dragons, who they worship as gods. They frequently seek out and steal treasures that they hope will win them favors from powerful dragons.

Draconic is the primary language for kobolds, being spoken by all of the various tribes and clans within the mountains. Some few speak Common, but it is unknown how much of other languages the typical kobold tribe can be educated in.

History

Kobolds are one of the most mysterious races of Emicara. They were one of many races that reappeared after the collapse of the Nameless Empire, believed to have long been hunted into extinction, much like their dragon patrons. They made their presence known by indiscriminate raids upon human settlements and states. They would often steal or kidnap items or things with no apparent reason or cohesion. Many of the people taken would later be released without having been tortured or even injured. Based on these reports, it was clear that the kobolds have once again entered into the service of dragons. They reside predominantly in communities in isolated caves and valleys, serving their dragon overlords devoutly. Only a handful of them have exited the mountains and entered into other societies, where they are constantly viewed with mistrust.
