Lost Kingdoms: The Plight of the Dwarves
The arrival of thousands of dwarven refugees from the overrun kingdoms east in the Apps has become a major issue in Alsona in the past few decades. This book is written with a sympathetic tone towards the refugees, claiming that it was a social duty for the people of Alsona to care for them and help the dwarves regain their footing. The book describes how a series of brutal wars led by the dwarven king Benghunn Ironshield led to the destruction of over half of the dwarven independent kingdoms. Others were destroyed by apparent environmental changes, and were forced south by abominable creatures from the Deadlands. The book describes how most of the kingdoms were each independent city states, dug deep into the Apps Mountains, with a series of tunnels and underground roads that connected many of them. Many of the dwarves in Alsona today were once famed warriors, craftsmen, or other artisans, now reduced to menial labor at a pittance of the wages they once received.
