Rites of the King

The Rites of the King is a book detailing the expected behaviors and activities of those who serve the King and visit his Tomb. It tells what is allowed of the people outside of the Tomb and forbids any defacing of the wall or surrounding land. More importantly, it discusses the duties of those who decide to dedicate their lives to the King. Those who enter the Tomb may never leave, as it would be the failure of their duty, and some are dedicated to guard the wall from illicit entry and escape. Others are simply made to tend gardens or livestock, or simply spend their days worshipping the King and “following his footsteps.” The book is interesting, as it not just treats the King as a god over the pantheons, which is a disputed borderline heresy, but also as though the King still lives among the temple. The book claims that he is the father of all gods, rather than simply a great mortal hero as most people of Alsona believe.
