Welcome to World Ember 2023 Prep. This is an article about my process for getting ready for World Ember and contains my responses to the prep assignments that have been released by World Anvil. This article is specific to the world of Emore, not my whole set of worlds, part of my plan is to develop elements of all my worlds rather than focusing on one.
Week One - An Area of Focus
When looking towards World Ember this year, there are many things that I need to consider when choosing an area of focus. The best method for decision will likely be to discuss several areas that could possibly be focus and then furthering this into ideas.
Characters
There are many characters that need to be developed and further understood within the world of Emore. There are many different styles of people in the world of Emore who have strong links to different organisations.
The idea of different chatacters excites me as there are so many different organisations that have a variety of different people that help to formulate the different types of creations in the realm. Even more extensively, there are no other origins/ancestries as there are in many fantasy worlds that i've worked on prior, so I want to use the words of World Ember to develop both the organisations and characters.
Additionally as I am playtesting the content for the Arcanum Noctus TTRPG, I am developing a sense of the people in the realm of Emore, so I would like to get a better understanding of the people and their motivations in such a dark and dramatic world.
Entities
In the world of Emore there are many entities and creatures that are impactful, with several that would be the focus of the Arcanum Noctus TTRPG base handbook due to their prevelance and their known quanity as creatures during assignments for Collectives of Arcanum Noctus.
This element excites me because while there are some creatures and entities that I have planned, this will give me the breathing room and focus to develop more of these creatures and let their abilities be a highlight of the world, without going into extensive detail about specific examples of their kind and what assignments they're known for.
I'm also excited because this would allow me to look into The Beyond, Weird and Magik by developing some of the creatures and pseudo gods that come from these placesand developing a greater understanding of what those creatures, if not look like, act likfe and interact with the world.
Additionally, this will help with the development of Arcanum Noctus TTRPG as it will give me more and more entities and creatures that can be referenced in the base handbook for players and Wardens, as well as help me develop the assignments that can be used during playtesting.
The Settlments of Stanos
Stanos is considered by my own standards to be the primary setting of Emore, particularly in regards to the TTRPG system, but also from an outsider perspective as it has the majority of the population living there. This means that many of the settlements and locations in the world are needing development and a better understanding of what exists in these locations.
This will also help to develop a great understanding of the nations of the continent, but it also helps to add a great understanding to what kind of people could live within these locations furthering the understanding of the different types of people.
I would be excited to work on this element of the world as it expands the different nations to have contents inside them rather than just being pretty devoid of any kind of true settlment. Its really interesting to give a good indication of what exists in each location rather than ignoring it.
This will also give me an understanding of the locations that exist outside of the singular location of Highfront in terms of the Arcanum Noctus TTRPG and develop possible assignments outside of the single city its currently based in.

Inspirations for World Ember
Linked in this section are worlds that I am looking further into for inspiration not only for content, but also for styling, prose and organization. I will link the creator of each world's author page, because of their simply excquisite work.
Good luck with World Ember this year. Looking forward to reading more of your stuff! :)
