Karmaic Influences

The following article is for the purpose of quantifying the uses and effects of Karmaic energy in regards to actions, passive skills and decisions within different levels of individual(s), situations, areas or periods of time. There are various states that these rules manifest themselves but are broadly split into the following categories:
  • Static State: concerns with actions, causes or decisions of individuals (1-10), localised area (outpost/hamlet/farmstead/cave/ward) or within a short period of time (few days to weeks). Common Occurrence.
  • Dynamic State: concerns with actions, causes or decisions of individuals or small societies (10-100), localised region (village/camp/district/mines/woods) or within a longer period of time (weeks to months). Common to Uncommon Occurrence.
  • Social State: concerns with affairs of independent societies in the region (100+), wider region (town/small cities/forests) or within a longer period of time (months to a year). Uncommon to Rare Occurrence.
  • Regional State: concerns with combined affairs of societies in the region (100+), whole region (Kingdoms/Empires/Capital Cities) or within a longer period of time (years). Rare to Extremely Rare Occurrence.
  • Continent/World State: concerns with large scale events over several regions or the whole world. Multiple wars. Environmental events. Essentially actions or decisions that effect and have caused to impact the whole or partial whole of the world of Vishidal. Very extremely Rare Occurrence.

    Karmaic Actions

    Actions that are affected by Karmaic Influences of the particular deities that govern them, usually under the Static or Dynamic States of Karmaic Laws.
     
    Before doing an action to replace the intiative roll, the GM may require the PCs to use their relevant Karmaic Alignment; which is based on their guardianship traits, to dictate whether an action is successful or not. Karmaic Actions can also be used to give a buff if successful or a debuff if result is failure; dependent on the Karmaic God's associated attribute, these type of actions can be done at any time.
     
    For a normal action (Basic Karmaic Action) d6 is rolled, and for more influectially or critical actions (Enhanced Karmaic Action) then a d10 is rolled.
     
    Basic Karmaic Action
    If the dice roll (d6) shows the same number or below the alignment level then the action is successful and gives a +1 buff (the basis of this is that you have enough devotion towards that deity for pray to be granted and given a blessing). If the dice roll shows above the alignment level then the action is a failure and a -1 debuff (the basis of this is that you do not have enough devotion and the deity in question is displeased and curses you).
     
    Enhanced Karmaic Action
    For dice rolls using the d10 the same rules apply, however an additional buff of +1 or debuff of -1 is added to the Basic Karmaic Action buff and debuff of that particular action that was rolled for.
     
    Devotion Titles
    When a PC reaches the mantra of 6 then they automatically pass any Basic Karmaic Actions; for that particular deity they are devoted towards, and get a permanent +1 individual buff to that deity's associated attribute plus an addtional bonus. This is further increases when the PC's devotion to that deity reaches the Dedicated title, they automatically pass any Basic Karmaic Actions and Enhanced Karmaic Actions; for that particular deity they are devoted towards, and gain a permanent +2 buff individually and +1 buff to all party members; any another additional bonus.

    Karmaic Status

    This is a scale on an individual's current Karmaic Status; which simplifies the sum of Karmaic alignments the individual possess into an artibutary Karmaic Status level.
     
    Alignment levels from Positive Karmaic Gods are considered positive numbers and from Negative Karmaic Gods are considered negative numbers. The total sum of which is considered your static current Karmaic Status and a simplistic view of your Karmaic Status Value (KSV your morals and ethics.
     
    Note: Due to the nature of the individual and its contribution to the Karmaic cycle and the how it is affected by such cycle then this level is seen as temporary only and should only be an indicator for decisions that need to be made currently or in the near-future.
     
    When making a Karmaic decision; that has significant bearing on the individual making a crucial decision and its effects surrounding entities, the individual needs to make a check to ensure that the issue and the decision is compatible with the Karmaic values that it follows. The check consists of determining if the issue is negative or positive in nature, then the individual needs to do a 2x d20 roll check. The resultant outcome needs to be equal or less to the current KSV for this decision which is calculated by:
     
    If the issue is positive in nature then KSV+20
     
    If the issue is negative in nature then KSV-20
     
    If the outcome is equal or less to the calculated value then it is a successful roll then the decision results will be favourable e.g. Vault door is opened, Killing blow given to villian, etc. However if the outcome is more than the calculated value then it is a failure and the results will be dire e.g. Vault door crushes/traps party member, Villian permantently kills party member, etc.

    Karmaic God Influences

    Whilst Karmaic theory and the effects and status of the mantras to the various Karmaic Gods are extremely complex and fully unknown, there has been a common consensus on the prevailing attributes that corresponds to the devotees of each particular Karmaic God.
