Karmaic Solar Stove

Introduction

The Karmaic Solar Stove is a relatively new invention; pioneered by the Empire's Karmaic revolution just a mere 50 years ago, it is a specialised type of Cho-Prasta. Based upon the primitive solar oven that was widespread in various forms throughout the Pansol region, it has been retrofitted with a Karmaic crystal that stores the light from the Sun.   This can then be used at a later date or focused for more intense heat. It is this focusing that allows for various niche professions before the revolution, such as blacksmiths, to flourish in the dawn of this new Imperial age!

Inner Workings

Its design is very similar to the primitive solar oven, with a round bucket like structure with various levels of insulation and a glass cover, however there are several significant differences. Firstly the quantity and quality of the glass covers; which are now lens, are of a better quality and fitted onto rails that can be rotated and configured for various and degree of intensity focal points. Secondly instead of primarily heating up the ceramic plates that line the bottom and sides of the stove, the sunlight is focused on to a Karmaic crystal that is infused with the Fire and Sky elements, which then the heat and light energy be released at a steady or intense rate.
Side Note: As with all Prasta, a suitable offering needs to be made which in this case is rather subtle with the God of Thought being offered the focused sunlight through the use of clever and logical placements of lens. Offering to the God of Cunning, is the idea that the God of Thought is tricked to accept this offering even though the sunlight itself doesn't belong to the devotee in question.

History and Development

Historically, the peoples that inhabit the Pansol region; in particular the peoples that live nearby and within Lake Pansol itself, have had to rely upon various fuels to create fires for cooking, toolmaking and smelting; though smelting metal is extremely limited due to the lack of resources and trade routes.   Wood or timber used for fuel is scarce and used sparingly due to the prevalence of sailing and other structures being provided a higher priority. Other fuels such as animal waste from livestock whilst plentiful has become increasingly unpopular with the middle an higher castes, as the pungent smell ruins any conceivable notion of refinement.   It was noted that whilst on fishing hauls and trading journeys that the sailors used a device consisted of a round shallow bucket that had an angled top opening. It was packed at the bottom and sides with reed thrushes, then placed at the bottom was a flat sleek black hardstone, thinner pieces of the same black stone were placed around the sides angled diagonally towards the middle piece. Ingredients were placed either directly onto the middle piece or more usually into a stone/metal bowl. Finally a round piece of glass was place on the top opening which covered and insulated the food inside.   When positioned towards the sun, the light was focused through the glass and heated up the contains inside, which then cooked the ingredients at a steady temperature. When cooking was finished the device could be moved into the shade for later eating or food directly taken from inside by lifting the glass cover off; though care must be taken as the cover and contains inside could be extremely hot).   It is this primitive design that the current Karmaic Solar Stove is based upon and improves on its limitations and efficiency by utilising the Karmaic crystal.
