Shil

(a.k.a. Ash)

Shil is an aspect of Ferith and is a physical aspect. It consists of smoke and ash and revolves around incineration, the results of fire. Shil materials include ash, smoke, char, soot and tar. It's counterpart is Vapri, water vapor. Both are related to particulates in the air in different ways and can form into clouds (fog, clouds, steam vs ash, smoke). However, with Shil, these particulates are the incinerated materials left after fire. Tar and soot also fall under this aspect and the act of incineration itself. Also, while most can't see smaller particulates or identify what is present, some of those blessed with Shil's magic can.

Shil's Plane itself is filled with a smokescreen but this concentrates in tandem with smoke in the real world. The same can be said for ash, soot and tar. The plane is littered with charred husks and still burning ash and lakes of tar are strewn about. Any footholds and pathways consist of compact ash and soot. The plane can be dangerous and difficult to navigate without Shil's blessings. Shil itself wanders the plane, incinerating all it touches. It has its own consciousness which is a splinter, a piece of Ferith's mind and the plane is a physical piece of Ferith's soul. Those able to use Shil's blessings or mages who can wield it typically possess one or more quirks or tendencies of Shil, which coincide with Ferith as well.

Racial Manifestation

When Ferith gifted all lifeforms with their magic, each life form was capable of receiving two gifts. Each of these blessings would grant the lifeform a connection to a specific aspect and this connection could be utilized in a given way. These gifts were passed down to their descendants as well and eventually beings came to call these gifts Racial Magic. These are named by the aspect a caster is connected to and by how they can use it, how they manifest their connection. Most will generally utilize one kind of Shil material. These include smoke, ash, char, soot and tar.
