Personal history
Lutorious Manheim's story begins with that of his parents:
Gregory Manheim is a carpenter who lives in Underdeep. While most of his work is crafting simple furniture (you wouldn't believe how many bar tables and stools the average fleshmarket tavern gets through in a year), he has gained renown for carving fine magical staffs, quarterstaffs and bows from rare woods of the highest quality. Through this craft he met an Elf maiden named Indilwen Aranelis, they fell in love and soon she bore him Lutorious. However people with lives as long as the Elves have a different look on life, so when Gergory began to age; Indilwen, who was still as youthful as when they had met, began to lose interest in him and her son. When a band of the Selesnya Conclave came to Underdeep looking for recruits she left with them, abandoning her family when Lutorious was barely 7 years of age.
Gregory was heartbroken, he did not understand why Indilwen would leave him after they had started a family together. Lutorious was simply confused, but as he grew up with a father who was struggling to support him in his grief and his understanding of what had happened grew his confusion curdled into resentment. "Elves are fickle creatures who care not for relationships, do not fall for their alien beauty for they do not feel emotions like we do".
As he grew up, Lutorious helped his father with the bookkeeping needed to run his carpentry business, though Gregory wished for him to move on to greater things, so he was pressed into studying to join the Azorious Senate, "a respectable job with a high chance of employment". While studying spell composition at Tempest Library Lutorious discovered his curiosity for the creation and manipulation of spells, in contrast to the Azorious practices of countering and unweaving spells. After mingling with students from the Izzet League who also frequented the Library he decided to take a different path that better suited his urge to discover more about the function of the multiverse and push the boundaries of what was considered possible.
Recently, Gregory Manheim has taken on an apprentice as he is "getting a bit too old to do this", Lutorious knows about this but has yet to meet them.

Was taught how to read, write and basic mathematics by his father.
