Reid Gibbs grew up in a destitute fishing village, where his family eked out a meager living. His depressing daily surroundings led Reid to develop a fascination with the mystical and unknown, often venturing into the nearby woods to explore and seek out hidden secrets. One fateful day, he stumbled upon a hidden glade where a powerful entity resided. Intrigued by Reid's curiosity and ambition, the entity offered him power in exchange for a pact. Desperate to escape his life of poverty and hardship, Reid accepted without hesitation, granting him amazing power.
He left his home behind, joining a crew of pirates and quickly rose through their ranks. Years passed, and Reid's ambition continued to grow. He challenged the captain to a duel for leadership of the crew, using his powers to secure a decisive victory. Under Reid's guidance, he renamed the crew the "Shadow Corsairs" and became a force to be reckoned with, striking fear into the hearts of sailors and coastal towns alike.
During a particularly brutal battle, Reid's face was horribly scarred, leaving him disfigured and nearly unrecognizable. Unwilling to let this setback hinder him, Reid crafted a skull mask with a golden jaw to conceal his injuries and to strike terror into the hearts of his enemies. The mask became his signature, earning him the moniker "Goldjaw."
Reid's infamy and success eventually earned him a place on the Council of Captains, where he uses his arcane prowess and fearsome reputation to further the interests of the Shadow Corsairs and solidify his own power within the city of Freeport.
