Zäheidon

Basic Information

Anatomy

Scaled and cold-blooded, the Zäheidon are a species of reptilian descent. They are humanoid with powerful, long tails and large, toothy mouths. While an air-breathing creature, the Zäheidon can dilute its oxygen content to survive long periods of time without taking a breath. With slow-circulation and acute muscle control, the Zäheidon can hold intensely still when idle. The jaw of the Zäheidon consists of two rows of sharp teeth that can shift right to left performing a cutting motion. A secondary retractable jaw can extend to the front of the throat to aid in eating without a swallow reflex.

Biological Traits

Ambush Predator: If a Zäheidon did not move or attack in the previous turn, it gains a +12 Hide. Any movement or attack action immediately removes this bonus.
Cold Blooded: A Zäheidon always ignores the effects of hot weather and gains +50 Heat Resistance. Whenever a Zäheidon makes a Fortitude check against cold weather, they must roll twice and take the lower result.
Efficient Oxygen: When determining suffocation, a Zäheidon counts its Endurance score as double its normal value.
Lock Jaw: Whenever a Zäheidon succeeds a grapple attempt, it can perform a free bite attack. If this bite attack hits, the Zäheidon may latch onto the target. For the duration of the grapple while the Zäheidon is attached, it gains a +50 to any check to stay in the grapple. Additionally at the end of each of its turn, the Zäheidon may deal 1/2 its bite damage to any attached target.
Tail Slam: A Zäheidon can perform an attack with its tail as a partial action. This attack is Improvised Crushing and deals 4 Crushing damage.
Zäheidon Bite: Zäheidon have a bonus equal to their END + Character Level to the Weapon Rating of their Bite attack. Zäheidon do not take a penalty to attack with this natural weapon even if they do not have any relevant ranks.

Genetics and Reproduction

The Zähedion are a mono gendered species that lay four eggs every four years. If these eggs are fertilized, they grows for four months before hatching in a newborn.

Growth Rate & Stages

A Zähedion achieve adulthood in a short span of four years. Growing from infantile size into adolescent in a manner of months and reaching full size by one year of age.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Primarily carnivorous, however the Zäheidon is innately omnivorous.

History

The Zäheidon are an aggressive nomadic tribal people of the great deserts of Tesard. Many tribes of up to several hundred members will follow herds of animals across the dunes in the hunt.
