Knights Academy

The Knights Academy is an educational institution aiming to form aspiring knights by following various teachings, one of the most important being the Code of Chivalery.

Admission conditions

A fee is required to enter the Academy in order to cover the various expenses necessary, such as lodging, food, armour, weapons and horses. The fee is renewed every year to cover for the upcoming year's expenses until graduation.
Anyone able to pay the fee can start their knight training the day following their seventh birthday up until their fourteenth. Typically, the training would last from seven to twenty-one years old. In some cases, children were allowed to enter the Academy a bit later if they were able to prove that they shared the same level as their peers who started at seven of age, they usually were children of high ranking nobles or knight families who could provide such education.
Men and women alike can enter the Academy, although it's less common to see women.

Teaching process

The young pages are placed on an early training regime of hunting with huntsmen and falconers, and academic studies with caepus. They then become assistants to older knights in battle, carrying and cleaning armour, taking care of the horses, and packing the baggage. They accompany the knights on expeditions, even into foreign lands. Older pages are instructed by knights in swordsmanship, equestrianism, chivalry, warfare, and combat (using wooden swords and spears).
After turning fourteen, the page become a squire. In a religious ceremony, the new squire swears on a sword consecrated by the Cevive, and attends to assigned duties in the Academy. During this time, they continue training in combat and are allowed to own armour (rather than borrowing it).
Squires are required to master the seven points of agilities – riding, swimming and diving, shooting different types of weapons, climbing, participation in tournaments, wrestling, fencing, long jumping, and dancing – the prerequisite skills for knighthood. All of these are even performed while wearing armour.
Upon turning twenty-one, the squire is eligible to be knighted.
The graduation or knighting ceremony is usually held during one of the great feasts or holidays and sometimes at the wedding of a noble or royal.
Squires, and even soldiers, can also be conferred direct knighthood early if they show valor and efficiency for their service; such acts may include deploying for an important quest or mission, or protecting a high diplomat or a royal relative in battle.
