The Divine Schism

The Prelude to War:

In the ages following the world's creation, the gods of Enniria—both Elysian and Terran—reigned in a harmonious balance, their powers intertwined to nurture the growing splendor of the land and its inhabitants. Vur'Kroth, The Progenitor, whose will had sparked the cosmos into being, receded into legend. As the ages passed, not even the gods glimpsed Vur'Kroth's form again, and the deity's silence left many questioning their creator's fate.

The Corruption and Betrayal:

A malevolent force, ancient and insidious, emerged from the darkness beyond the known cosmos. It whispered to the Terran Gods, sowing seeds of deceit and malice within their ranks. This dark influence grew like a contagion, twisting the nature of the Terran and driving a wedge between the once-unified pantheon. As the Terran Gods succumbed to this corruption, the fabric of Enniria began to fray.

The Centuries of Strife:

What began as skirmishes and clandestine sabotage escalated into open conflict, igniting a war that would rage for eight centuries. The Elysian Gods, in a desperate bid to restore their brethren and protect the world they had jointly crafted, found themselves locked in a bitter struggle against their counterparts. The land was scarred by the tumult of war, and the heavens wept for the sundering of the divine.

Mortal Allies and Divine Soldiers:

As the war intensified, the gods turned to their creations for aid. The Elysians enlisted the help of the humanoid races, beings of courage and ingenuity, while the Terran summoned the more monstrous denizens of the deep and wild places, each reflecting the darker aspect of their creators' nature. The world of Enniria became a battlefield where divine will was executed through mortal hands, and the fate of all hung in the balance.

The Sealing Sacrifice:

In the war's final epoch, the Elysian Gods, seeing the devastation wrought upon Enniria and its peoples, made a monumental decision. In an act of selfless sacrifice, they channeled the majority of their divine essence into a powerful sealing rite. This ritual succeeded in imprisoning the corrupted Terran Gods, halting their rampage but at a great cost. The Elysian Gods' powers were greatly diminished, forever changing the divine landscape.

The Aftermath and the Age of Recovery:

With the war concluded and the primary threat of the Terran Gods contained, the Elysian and the remaining uncorrupted Terran Gods sought to heal the wounds of Enniria. The mortal races, having borne witness to the heights of valor and the depths of despair, began to rebuild upon the war's ravaged tapestry. The echoes of the conflict would ripple through time, a somber reminder of the price of peace and the enduring vigilance required to maintain it.
