Crest City

Crest City stands as a beacon in the sky, a towering empire of steel and might. While many settlements and cities were destroyed in the Ether War, Crest City remained relatively untouched. The citizens pride themselves on upholding traditional values, a strong army, and being a city anyone with an entrepreneurial spirit and enough grit can triumph in.

Demographics

Crest City is home to many races from all corners of Enok. One will find a mix of human, dwarf and elf primarily, but that's not to say the city doesn't have it's fair share of orc or gnome traveler passing through.

Government

Crest City is run with a Parliament with elected officials each representing a different district of the city. Every two years the citizens vote on new cabinet members in their respective district, excluding that where the officials reside. Districts are segregated by class with the lower paid workers and shop keepers living in small housing while the more esteemed citizens living in lavish houses.   Taxes in Crest City are set at a modest rate with an almost flat tax across all districts. Taxes were previously due annually, but a number of citizens began falling behind and their property was soon after acquired by the state. A vote was taken to give citizens the ability to pay taxes monthly which passed with majority. Soon after the state saw a more reliable stream of revenue which allowed it the flexibility to meet needs across all districts.

Defences

The standing army of Crest City is the main defense against anyone (or anything) that would dare to launch an assault on the city. It previously had an all time high attendance of 30,000 before the Ether War, which now stands at 2,000 but is enough to sufficiently meet the needs of the city in terms of patrol, surveillance, and defense. Walls 100 ft. tall line the entire city, with towers and outposts scattered across so as to not leave any blind spots. The entrance is marked with a thick iron door, requiring several soldiers to operate.
