Kalyx dies aged 469 years old to assassins. There is no clear heir.

After Kalyx's death, his favored concubine, top general, and the consuls meet in the night to discuss the fate of the empire, and who will succeed Kalyx. After heated discussion, Tanyx, the son of Kalyx's favorite concubine and an established military leader is voted to succeed him. One of the consuls leads a rebellion while Tanyx is travelling back to the capitol, and takes hold of it. Tanyx, upon arriving, invents an ingenious new military formation in order to take back the city.
