Kokintras (Ko-Kin-Tr-ah-s)

Extent

Kokintras is a continent that resides mostly in the southern and eastern hemispheres of Eoferan. It's a standalone mass of land that stretches approximately from the equator in the south to 40 degrees north, as well as the Adonian Line, the eastern point of the main continent designated as the zero point of the grid of the globe along longitudinal lines. (1) Kokintras is bordered to the south by the Atillian Ocean, on the east by the Typhoric Ocean, the north and west by the Sea of Puliak, and is within visual distance of the northern continent of Rubras. Kokintras is around 15,000,000 square miles of exposed land area, around a quarter of the dry surface of Eoferan and about 6% of it's total surface area.
Kokintras is estimated to be host to the first evolutions of the various humanoid races of the planet. The Dwarves and Elves have stories about local geography that furnished them into existence hundreds of thousands of years ago, and even the human, gnome, halfling, and goblinoid races have their own oral and written traditions concerning how they arrived to and established themselves in various regions of the continent. It's unknown what if anything the Dragonborn, or the Faekinds have to say in regards to their records, as each camp so far has seemed satisfied to let the lesser races believe what they do about the situation if they do have contrary information.

Being a large continental mass, Kokintras is a host of regions, subregions, superregions, megalopolises, megaregions, and various definitions of all of the above. That being said, there's a number of divisions that qualify for regional that are more or less universally accepted by the prevailing cultures on the surface, being Kroberreich and Loricanium. The Northwest, past the rocky tips of the Ashen Peaks, are considered some of the finest breadbasket areas on the continent, helped along by healthy southeasterly winds, and fair temperatures that lead up the leeward side of the mountains. The southeast has experienced long periods of droughts and warm temperatures but has given rise to a brusk and hearty stock of humanoids that traverse the Stone Seas of Kokintras. The central sub plateaux of the continent, where the elf-kind have made their forest homes are referred to by the young races as the Eye of Kokintras. The southwest is generally just called the Goblin lands, because of the prevalence of Goblinoids that have made it their home over the millennia. The northwest is known as the evergreen, lush with temperate rainforests and rolling hills. It's suggested that some of the first domesticated farm animals were husbanded there.

Climate

The Northwestern regions of Kokintras are dominated by grassland and savannah, as well as a fair portion of temperate rain forests and wetlands in the outlying islands. The highest point in the Northwestern quarter of the continent is Mt. Trianon on the Ashen Peaks range of mountains surrounding the crater gulf.
