Golden Claw
The Golden Claw, is a bar in Dross, run by a woman named Scarlette Backinhurtz . The bar itself has been around for almost a hundred years, but was bought out for an extremely cheap price by Scarlette and turned around to be a star-studded showbar with low-key performances and stellar cuisine. It's famous for its rainbow lobster rolls and lobster macaroni and cheese, which Sin herself claims is a family recipe passed down by at least four generations.
Catastrophe sometimes performs here, putting on a singing show that can span at least 2 hours. Usually the bar gets extremely packed, to where people are huddled outside to try to get in and hear his voice.
Purpose / Function
The Golden Claw is the most relaxed place to visit on Dross, or at least that's what Scarlette brags about when she's shilling her business. The bar is known for the jazz band playing late at night, especially when paired with any performances that may show up, while it may have sports playing overhead with the large televisions in it during the day time. Many family and friends come to visit for the food that's served, the menu having a large assortment of surf-and-turf dining that can also be placed for take out or even delivery when Scarlette has enough workers coming in for the day.
The most busiest days is when her main performer comes in to sing. Scarlette always looks forward to Cat swinging by and leaving people breathless with his singing, which she discovered by accidental eavsdropping when he came to visit one day with Calamity. Since then, the weekend has become the bar's favorite time period, always looking forward to people coming in and out of the restaurant.
Design
The restaurant is a very spacious location with the walls having made out of red brick and mortar, and decorative mahogany wood paneling with beautiful filigree etched into it taking its places on the edges of the ceiling and ground. The floor itself is hardwood, transitioning from a complimentary wooden floor into solid linoleum with a repeating filigree pattern matching the wood. The front of the restaurant opens up to a wide area with many white cloth covered tables and chairs scattered in a pattern that leaves for much space for people to walk between. The bar itself is situated almost in the middle, offset slightly by the east where a staircase leads up to the more "fancy" seating that allow for people to have a gorgeous look of the city and its skyline from where they sit. The bar itself is noted for being massive, decorated with many alcoholic beverages and mixes lining the shelves behind the bartender, and mini fridges holding juices, sodas and energy drinks for mixing.
Around the west side of the bar is more seating and a large platform where performers are able to do their showing with plenty of space. If nobody is performing, then curtains are drawn over and instead various T.Vs replace the space, usually showing whatever Scarlette may have playing for the time being.
The kitchen is off further west, not exactly next to the performing stage but close enough for waiters and waitresses to bring food out to patrons with ease before diving back into the kitchen. The kitchen itself is very roomy, able to house 5 or 6 chefs at a time.
An emergency exit is located back stage, and empties out behind the restaurant and head of the parking lot. There has been one instance it was used, albeit a very silly reason that's memed with for patrons who know.
Alterations
As the building is pretty old (though not extremely), when Scarlette inherited the place, she made sure to give it a few upgrades to stand the testament of times changing.
For one, Scarlette allows smoking inside, which can only be allowed if proper ventilation is given via air magic insulators that allow for fresh air to constantly circulate through the air. Another modification that she had made was change the interior to be much more roomy due to how jam packed the place can become. Changing the carpet and paint job gave the place a much more suave appearance that could be welcoming - and comforting - to anyone coming in for either 1 minute or 1 hour.
Each accommodation made was done to ensure the spacious area of the entire bar was used, and made it the perfect venue for many types of entertainment.
History
The Golden Claw was never a bar. In fact, made over a hundred years ago, the restaurant was a secret magical den for making illegal imports and exports in potions and elixirs during the infamous age of the Hallowed Era. This time period made it extremely difficult for anyone to get their hands on potions, and so people sought to ensure people got what they had wanted, even though it was highly illegal and brought further stigma onto spells than what was originally thought.
A successful sting operation forced the location to be closed, and every single small detail was searched meticulously to cleanse the hideout of contraband. The place was left in disuse for many years, at least 25 years after the bust. An interested investor pursued in turning the location into an actual potions and elixir-selling shop with genuine articles and legal intentions, but this unfortunately had fell short due to some shady operations that were discovered of the owner, causing him to fall in bankruptcy and once again, the place left abandoned.
Many places of small note were then given chances to occupy the place but none could really stay any longer than 5 years. As Dross slowly began to change and become much more urbanized in comparison to the other cities in Magnesia, the shady location was beginning to look more and more of an eyesore with heavy history attached to it.
It wasn't until Scarlette, buying the place for a ridiculously tiny amount from a man disinterested in keeping his hands on it, shaping up the place over the course of a year to become the fantastic bar that it is now. It is almost entirely unrecognizable, which many view as a very positive thing, and has been a great sense of tourism for anyone seeking to view the sights and places that make Dross the urban titan its acclaimed as.
