Chapter 4: The Dragon God

Plot points/Scenes

With all the ingredients needed to cast the ritual spell the party returned to the path of Water. Gathering a few supplies they then had the wizard begin the ritual. He projected his soul through the circle and found that the souls were being taken to the path of Dragons. A path that was thought to have been abandoned after its god was slain during Candarion's Fall. The wizard described his location and then screamed in horror the name of the dead god Glaurun. His soul was severed and back in the path of water his body fell limp to the floor, dead.   The group took this knowledge and traveled without hesitation to the path of Dragons. They found a desolate wasteland filled with miasma. Tua took note of a large mountain making its way towards them while the party attempted to cross a broken bridge. As the mountainous shape loomed closer they were attacked by two skeletal dragons. They were able to defeat one of the them but then the undead god Glaurun appeared. The size of a mountain he dwarfed even the dragons attacking the party. Glaurun spoke to the group and Ulysses replied. The god wasn't fond of his tone and so nearly killed him outright with a bolt of lightning. As the party was preparing for the final battle they made the quick decision to try and forcibly take Glaurun to the material plane where he would lose much of his power. As the undead god was not at full power they were able to plane shift him back and they appeared outside Ulysses' hunting lodge on the Silent Isle. A fierce battle began as the heroes hacked and sliced at the mighty dragon god's many heads. Several times it seemed that Glaurun would get the better of the group but Bosh was able to rally the group. Ulysses made a brave gambit and dealt a massive blow to the dragon but his life was snuffed out as one of the dragon's heads released a bout of poisonous gas.   In the end Bosh, Tua, and Diaz survived the battle. All close to death. The gold dragon Arthinax appeared as Glaurun heaved his last undying breathe. The path of dragon's had never had a new god due to the fact that no dragon's sought to replace him and only one with dragon blood could rule over the path. Arthinax told the party that they carried the essence of a white dragon that they had killed previously in the path of Ice. Arthinax said he could combine this essence with one of them allowing them to ascend to godhood over the path. Tua jumped at the chance and Bosh and Diaz went along with his choice. Tua was transformed into Tuamat, the god of dragons.   After the battle things settled down relatively. Tua spent his time in his realm changing it from the dead wasteland it had been. He also gathered to himself followers who worship him at the monastery he had built in life.   Diaz returned to Fortuna's side. He often traveled between the material plane and the different paths completing different missions at his god's request. He became one of her closest servants and was often used to spread her power in the material plane.   Bosh settled down in Boshton. His island continued to grow in strength. The other countries began to treat Boshton as a city state similar to Clearwater. Bosh was tolerant of the worship of Tuamat and other religions but his legend had grown so much that he had become an ascendant in his own right to those of Boshton.   Ulysses Turlock's soul refused to travel to the The Realm of the Dead at his death. He became a vengeful spirit that is said to still haunt the world to this day. He takes particular joy in foiling the hunts of other hunters.
