The steam locomotive gets its name from the fact that it is propelled by a steam engine.

Armor and defense

Most locomotives will have minimal defensives built into the train. Usually if there is something that needs to be protected on board it will be placed in a special tran car and attached to the main train. This car alone will have the extra defenses.
On board the train however, there are many guards stationed. A normal train will have around two guards per train car with other patrolling throughout.

Communication Tools & Systems

Depending on the country of origin a locomotive will have tools for communication. If the train was built in Alteria it will have very little communication tools. The trains built in Vestonia and Clearwater however will have a specialized magical device that can be charged to allow for long distance communication through sending spells. These are usually recharged when the train docks at a staion in either of these countries. Due to Alteria's aversion to magic however they have been reluctant to allow these magical devices on their trains. It is rumored that the Alterian engineers have been hard at work attempting to build a device of their own to solve this communication problem.

Hangars & docked vessels

Each Locomotive engine can pull up to 30 passenger cars or 20 fully loaded supply cars. When a passenger buys a ticket on the train they have different options available to them depending on their budget. If they buy the cheapest tickets they can buy a ticket in the common car where they are guaranteed a seat in the most crowded part of the train. If they opt for the more expensive seats they can enjoy their own room in one of the sleeper cars and access to one of the nearby lounge cars. The most expensive option allows the passenger to rent out their own train car to have all to themselves. While the tickets for the train are cheap enough to allow travel for the common folk of Westreach they are still too extensive for many people and most of the common people can only afford the cheapest tickets after saving up for some time.
