Personal history

Kylora was born in the Genesis region of the Demonhollow, the birthplace of all Grand Succubi, being a rare exception capable of utilizing the Arcane element.

Encounter with the Dakr

Kylora, being a Grand Succubus, was by nature very powerful in terms of brute strength, allowing her to hold control over other lesser demons, yet she valued loyalty above all else. Throughout her youth, she was able to defeat other Grand Succubi with just her physical strength. However, when she stumbled upon Dakr Succubi, she found herself cornered, as the other demons under her command were not mentally strong enough to resist the temptation of the Dakr. Kylora was forced to retreat out of care for her own troops, a rare characteristic among demons, but a loyal force of troops was difficult to come by, and she was not going to give it up so easily. Fortunately, the general valley-like structure of the Dakr region made it so her retreat out would force her enemies to also follow the single-file route she took. Upon escaping to the local faction's stronghold, she would quickly transform back into her natural Grand Succubus form, using her sudden change to surprise and crush the group tailing her. She would eventually manage to capture one alive, curious as to how she would be able to utilize their magicks for herself.

Gaining Control

After witnessing her own underlings' lack of resistance when it came to Dakr's spells, she would attempt to replicate this effect. Taking one captive, she, with her arcane capabilities, was able to discover that the core of a creature's soul was responsible for its elemental magic. In this case, a Dakr Succubus' psychic capabilities. Kylora would use her arcane magic to trap pieces of the succubus' soul in a bauble to utilize in battles, albeit not as efficient as a true Dakr's control, it would still overwhelm the victim's mind, driving them mad for a period of time.

Planning the Invasion

After discovering how to make use of the Dakr's ability, Kylora would set out on a campaign into the Dakr region in order to capture them and fuel her arsenal. Taking advantage of the Dakr Succubi's relative independence from each other, the smaller outer factions were not able to retaliate against her invasion, with their own spells twisted against them, causing them to either be rendered unconscious from the backlash or be temporarily stunned, allowing Kylora's troops to cut them down. She would slowly come to control over half of the Genesis region, and branched out into the Dakr. Yet, Kylora would learn of a world outside of the Demonhollow, somewhere that did not force her forces to constantly raid and scavenge in order to survive, as demons under her command reviewed what they had gathered from the Dakr's reserves, knowledge of how to reach the other plane - Epidotra.   Knowing that her forces may be walking in blind, she intensified their activities, attempting to bolster their suppliers in preparation for their journey to that other realm. Despite all this, her care for her own troops remained, even as her ambition grew, and their respect and loyalty slowly became unbreakable as well, willing to give their lives for their kin to be one day free from the struggles in the Demonhollow.

Breach into Nirin

By Noboroth 10th, 4600 OA, Kylora and her forces would eventually discover from the Dakr's tablets that there existed a large portal leading to Epidotra, now known as Demonhold. Making their trek through the wilderness of Demonhallow to the portal, she sent several scouts through the portal before leading her main force through. The scouts returned with bad news, however, that beyond the portal was a frozen island, on a chain of islands, making travel difficult. Despite this, Kylora was able to carry her army on her shoulders, as she crossed the ocean floor, taking them to the shore.   Kylora and her scouts went out to survey the area beforehand, with Kylora herself using her shapeshifting powers to pose as a dragon in order to fly over Nirin. She would eventually hear commotion, and follow it to a small human village. The scouts would stalk them, and learn their language among the shadows as weeks passed by.
Eventually, once her main force managed to catch up, she would begin their first pillage in Epidotra. Kylora, however, was far more merciful compared to her kin, and gave the humans a chance to live, had they given up their supplies and shelter. The humans knew that it was suicide to leave their supplies to wander in the harsh snowstorms in western Nirin, as the trees and foliage in the forest in which they've dwelled served as a natural barrier to the snow, and without it, the wind would freeze all that walked unprepared into the tundra, and as such, bore arms.   The humans were easily crushed, due to their remoteness. Kylora's army would continue to march further west. With her invasion lasting over a century, her forces would establish outposts, from frozen plains to frigid forests, as the fledgling Domain had not much to offer in terms of resistance. The only hindrance was the environment, as the difference between the demons' body temperature and Nirin's cold was far too great, which caused them to be sluggish and dazed when temperatures dropped at night. It was still not enough to discourage Kylora from halting the invasion, as even the environment was unsuitable for those who are not used to it, it was still far more resourceful compared to the meagre slivers of sustenance they could find in the Demonhallow, with the forests supporting plenty of game for her forces to hunt, as well as the local shores offering fish to live off of.

Gathic Resistance

By 4554 OA, they would make it to the Nirin-Gathuram border, where they encountered the first signs of a formidable resistance. The Gathurians from Dolgan had already expected her forces to arrive, for the tales of an army of demons were spread as a result of Kylora's pity for those she raided, proving to be her biggest flaw during her invasion. The pure-iron utilized by the Gathic warriors were incredibly resistant to the elemental fire of the weapons her army's weapons were imbued with, resistant to the weapon's scorching cut, which were previously enough to melt through ordinary metals the Nirics had forged their gear with. Still, the demons' physical strength still bested the troops, although the casualties were greater than before. The troops under her command started to falter in their will, but their trust for Kylora urged them to press on.

Kylora would eventually come up with a strategy. Due to how the enemy forces would likely expect a force comprised of demons, she could easily shapeshift back into a dragon, something the locals were far more familiar, and terrified of, in order to shatter morale. When the panic sets in, her army would come rushing in, and destroy whatever was left of the Gathic forces.
As she laid siege to the fortresses of what would be Gothrione, all would seem well. The local forces were unprepared for a dragon to appear, and they scrambled for whatever remained by older ballistas meant to restrain and pierce dragonhide. Kylora would take advantage of the confusion, and break through the city walls. The harpoons and ballistas built to restrain a dragon simply bounced off of her skin, crashing to the ground. Once the walls went down, she roared to call forth her forces, yet, she only found one succubus delivering a call for help from her own forces. Confused as to what could possibly hold up her own army, she abandoned the siege in order to assist her troops in an act of loyalty. She would find the frontline of minor demons demolished, with only a spirit standing where they stood. It would come to be known as the Red Reaper, a companion of the Demigod of Death who was there to assist in the care of the undead of east Gathuram, but came to the aid of the locals when it heard of Kylora's invasion. Due to its rather shallow position in the Spirit Realm granted by the Demigod of Death, it was capable of interfering with the physical realm, using a longbow infused with its soul to strike down the hordes of demons pushing towards Gathuram's future capital.

Due to its spiritual nature, most conventional weaponry wielded by Kylora's army had no effect, and was difficult to detect by the demons, but Kylora herself was capable of wielding arcane magic, proving to be a useful asset in warding off the spirit, even as her physical strength was no longer an effective weapon. By this time, the Gathic forces were able to reconvene and push back against her army with the Red Reaper's assistance. Fortunately, the Red Reaper also isn't able to move as quickly as a fully-fledged spirit, allowing Kylora and her forces to slowly retreat into Nirin.

Last Stand at Demonhold

Upon re-entering Nirin, she discovered that armies from Thamor had also arrived, out of fear that they would be Kylora's next target once she conquered Gathuram. By 4480 OA, her forces would be slowly pushed back to Demonhold, as her forces dwindled with every assault from the spirit and the combined forces of southern Thamor and western Gathuram. Kylora herself would give her own life in order to ferry her own forces back to the portal, where she held her last stand as they were able to retreat, blocking attacks with her own body. The Red Reaper was eventually able to concentrate enough magic into its bow to fire a piercing bolt through Kylora, taking advantage of its master's ability to manipulate souls in order to kill her. Kylora's body would slowly disintegrate as a result, covering the island of Demonhold with blood and ashes, turning it into the state it is now.   The human forces were weakened enough to stop them from pursuing Kylora's remaining forces through the portal, in addition to fearing that Kylora still had more tricks up her sleeve.

Aftermath

Kylora's invasion would go down in history as the first, as well as one of the greatest attempts of the invasion of Epidotra from Demonhollow. The loyalists from her forces would eventually return to Demonhollow, spreading tales of their glorious invasion through the regions, telling of their advance throughout the boreal forests and barren mountains of Nirin and Gathuram, as well as hatred for the Red Reaper for killing their beloved Mistress, who showed tremendous respect as well as care for her kin, making her an exception among succubi. To this day, two of her lieutenants, Xellmoth and Dagral, guard the portal in her stead, protecting the dying place of their leader.   The invasion would come to inspire many more powerful demons, fueling as a source of ambition, as they want to surpass and succeed in invasions of their own. The failures of the invasion showed that mercy to their enemies is a weakness, as Kylora could've easily crushed any force, had they not been informed by refugees that she didn't feel the need to kill.
