Safety Tools
Epoch 9--and Dungeons & Dragons generally--is about getting together to collaboratively tell a story and most of all, having fun. That means each person's safety and comfort comes first. When we all feel welcome and safe at the table, we'll tell amazing stories and have a lot of fun.
It is with this in mind that the GM is suggesting the use of the X-Card safety tool. We will go over the X-Card in Session 0 (link pending) as well as briefly reminding ourselves about it at the beginning of each session. For now, here is a brief overview of how the X-Card works:
The X-Card is an optional tool (created by John Stavropoulos) that allows anyone in your game (including you) to edit out any content anyone is uncomfortable with as you play. Since most RPGs are improvisational and we won't know what will happen till it happens, it's possible the game will go in a direction people don't want. An X-Card is a simple tool to fix problems as they arise. Please feel free to read more about it ahead of time at the link above. You can also click the artist credit in the image at right to read about one game organizers experiences with the X-Card tool. If the X-Card does not work for us, there are many other TTRPG safety tools available. Feedback and ideas are welcome and enthusiastically encouraged. The better we all feel, the better we all feel.
