Temple Behind the Waterfall

Destination of first Artifact Securement Services quest to find the red crystal.
Located behind a waterfall in the Wood River, past a long, narrow crevasse, deep inside an underground cavern. Strange glowing bugs hovered around stunted plants.
There was evidence of a scholar at one point studying the temple. An owlbear and cub had somehow take up residence inside and attacked the intruding adventurers.
Three statues came to life when the party stepped inside the inner sanctuary of the temple. After defeating them, the party was able to investigate an obelisk and illuminate the rune on it to reveal the red crystal they were seeking.
Upon removing the crystal, red energy began to errupt from the obelisk, swirling around them. It coalesced into little firey beings who attacked the party.
They left with the crystal, leaving the temple and the erupting energy behind.

Location

Wood River, about 20 miles north of Riverwood.
