Karsus' past is a mystery, what is known is that he went to the University for a time, and then was expelled for looking into taboo magics. He reappeared nearly 50 years later, without aging past his mid 30's. He founded an enclave, the whereabouts of which were never known. In this enclave he taught a few dozen students, his taboo magics.
Karsus' seemed to have one goal, Godhood! With the help of his students, he created a spell known as "Karsus' Avatar". The spell killed Mystryl, and gave Karsus her powers. His body could only handle the magic running through it for a short amount of time before it took his life. This event was known as Karsus' Folly
