Cartography in Er Dor

When you are not in your home city, almost all of your time involves getting from point A to point B without getting lost. This is the cartographer's space to shine! When summarized simply, cartography does not seem that exciting: The cartographer makes maps and tries to keep you from getting lost. Perhaps not exciting, but definitely important. After all, you don't want to get lost in the vicinity of an Elder Brain's lair (ok, maybe you do if you are loot crazy and have no fear of death).
Prerequisites
In order to be a cartographer, you have to possess at least one level in a class/subclass that can use spells. Your training requires 1d4 tendays with a cartographer of level 4 or higher. At the end of your training, you will be given a set of cartographer's tools and access to the profession's spells.
Abilities and Tools
  1. Cartographer’s Tools. Using cartographer's tools, you can create accurate maps to make travel easier for yourself and those who come after you. These maps can range from large-scale depictions of mountain ranges to diagrams that show the layout of a dungeon level. Cartographer's tools consist of a quill, ink, parchment, a pair of compasses, calipers, and a ruler.
  2. Skill Checks. You gain no additional proficiency with Arcana, History, Religion but you can use your knowledge of maps and locations to unearth more detailed information when you use these skills. For instance, you might spot hidden messages in a map, identify when the map was made to determine if geographical features have changed since then, and so forth. If you do not already have proficiency with nature, you gain half proficiency. Your modifier can never be less than 0. Your familiarity with physical geography makes it easier for you to answer questions or solve issues relating to the terrain around you.
  3. Navigation. Add a custom skill called navigation to your character and make the modifier equal to your cartography level. Your understanding of geography makes it easier to find paths to civilization, to predict areas where villages or towns might be found, and to avoid becoming lost. You have studied so many maps that common patterns, such as how trade routes evolve and where settlements a rise in relation to geographic locations, are familiar to you.
  4. Increase travel speed. The party you are with can cover an extra 2 miles per day plus 1 per level Cartography above first level, up to a maximum of 8, which is equal to the benefit from a mount.
  5. Create Cartographer's Map. You gain access to this cantrip, which you can cast once per day. See spell details in DND Beyond.
  6. Memorize Map. You gain access to this spell at cartographer level 4. You no longer need a physical copy of a map you have memorized, and can add to it with the Create Cartographer's Map spell
  7. Share Map. You are able to share a copy of your memorized map with others.
  8. Auto Map. This spell requires a 5th level spell slot.
  9. Making Money
The table below shows the price you can expect to receive for one of your maps as a custom request. If you sell it to a vendor, expect to take a cut in the price due to their need to make a profit. Vendors will be willing to purchase 1d4 maps. You can do this once per tenday, up to a maximum of 1000 gold. You could also sell a casting of your "Share Map" spell.
    1. Common (Level 1-4) Cartographer Map (25/50/75/100 gold)
    2. Uncommon (level 5 and 6) Cartographer Map (200/300 gold)
    3. Rare (level 7 and 8) Cartographer Map (500/750 gold)
    4. Very Rare (level 9 and grandmaster) Cartographer Map (1000 gold)
