Adecthelion
A bustling town, filled with strange people. The town square is a busy place, the best spot for the local marketplace. Many of the men are off in fishing vessels on the Northern Ocean, making sure the families have enough to eat and enough to sell to those who won't fish. A charming, classical place, the inner city is mostly old-fashioned in architecture, while the outer city accepts more modern influences from the rest of the continent.
Demographics
Unlike many other places on the Continent, Adecthelion has a 89% population of Mythos. The remaining population is 6% Witches, and 5% Humans. The age distribution has yet to be determined for this year's census.
Industry & Trade
There is only one major outside industry, and that is the sewage system. Everything else is purely local, as Adecthelion is a very self-reliant city.
Infrastructure
As with the neighborhood bazaars, there are quite a few notable fish merchants, as well as a couple jewelry merchants and three fresh produce merchants. There is an owner of a watermill, and quite a few windmills in the countryside, being slightly more modern to accommodate the growing electrical needs of a town adjusting to the modern influences of the rest of the world.
Districts
There are three main districts in the city, the inner city, mid-city, and outer-city. The inner city is very much an economy sector, with many local bazaars and markets happening every day in different sections of the inner city. The mid city is known for a majority of the homes, and in the northern part, many fishing industries. The outer city is the place for agriculture and many of the windmills that power homes and establishments in the city. The outer city is much more modern-influenced, and many homes look much newer compared to those in the inner city.
Guilds and Factions
The northern part of the mid-city is very active in fishing industries/factions, and they all work together while also being slightly competitive. There are many smaller hobby-factions in all sections of the city, varying from a Sewing faction to Carpenter factions, to Crocheting, Knitting, Metalworking, Electricians, and more.
History
Adecthelion was founded in 645 by a group of notable Mythos as a refuge for other Mythos who were still recipients of prejudice in the world. When other species refugees stumbled upon Adecthelion, they had to prove the weren't prejudiced before entering the city. This relaxed as more and more awareness about Mythos and acceptance was becoming more widespread, but there is a significant amount of Mythos in Adecthelion.
Points of interest
There are many minor points of interest in such a culture-rich city, but a main point of interest for many tourists and extremely religious people is the statue/sculpture of the pantheon, called the Artheos. (Ah-reh-THOS)
Tourism
Tourism to the city of Adecthelion is mostly composed of religious people paying pilgrimage to the Arethos and friends/family members of citizens.
Architecture
In Adecthelion's inner city, the buildings are mostly built of darker colored wood, with teal accents and shingled roofs. The mid-city homes are built more out of either stone, brick, wood, or modern building materials.
Geography
The City of Adecthelion is situated in a circular/ovascular pattern at the edge of sea cliffs filled with lush greenery and leading down to thin, natural beaches of black rock. The village overlooks the Northern Sea, and gives wonderful views.
Natural Resources
There was a large forested area very close to Adecthelion, and there still is, but years of using the forest's wood and other resources has pushed back the forest's edge into the outer-city. A few unsuccessful mining operations have been attempted throughout the years in the outer city, and the northern edge borders the sea, where many varieties of fish live. Over the years inhabitants and fishers have been careful to keep the biodiversity of the area alive, avoiding over-foresting and over-fishing for fear of the powers that be punishing them for their greed.
