Paraxus Character in Eradalis | World Anvil

Paraxus

The ‘Lightning Rider’, Paraxus is the strongest of the Primes. His rage is like the lightning crashing, as warhorses crash together on the pitch. His spirit is in the challenger approaching his rival. He stands for bravery and strength, his realm power and competition. The largest tenant of His Teaching is: Controlled Chaos.   He is depicted as a huge blueish man, with shock yellow hair pulled tight in a top knot and braided ringlets swaying from his chin. He is covered in vibrant yellow and blue pulsing tattoos. His war hammer is a powerful artifact held by the strongest chieftain of the Goliath tribes in the Echo Mountains. He is loud and clumsy, but laughs loudly and tells great stories of his exploits and his proud faithful who prove themselves worthy of his recognition.   Paraxus is the God of The Storm, War, Challenge and Strength. He is the Patron of Goliaths and Giantkin. Many paladins and religious warriors fight with the Strength of the Storm, powerful boons and blessings given to them by the Lightning Rider.

The Proving Grounds

The Proving Grounds are a huge arena in most cities within the The Kingdom of Aéredon. It is where Trials happen everyday, as citizens come to settle grievances. When someone is accused of something in the sand, they may defend their accusation, and save their honor with their fists. The sands of the Proving Grounds are stained with many victors daily. The leader of the temple is selected annually on the holy day of Paraxus. It is his duty to stand as a final word of the Lord and his decision is the Word of Law within the Proving Grounds.

Holy Days

The Day of Challenging is held after faithful have prepared and completed a three day fast, on 7th of Deepsnow. The Strong of Paraxus gather to break bread before starting a brawling melee match to decide the last man standing. The chaos and excitement of the brawl set the tone for the rest of the day's events. The Champion's role is to watch over the temple until the following year, when a new leader is selected. The current leader is a gorilla-like Goliath named Kaden.
