Clan Viridian
Clan Viridian occupies the craggy hills and mountains of the central eastern of the Dragon fang mountains of Ioban. Taking these regions for their high peaks and relatively surface level emerald and sapphire mines, the sapphires having a blue green hue from which the clan takes their name. They appreciate the subterranean Glitter Tail clan which keep any creatures from the deep venturing to the surface level mines which Viridian operates. Their domains once stretched to the sea but have been lost since the second Dragon war, a piece of contention for the clan as a whole. Favoring mostly vassals who enjoy the mountains and hills left them few with psionic aptitude, and thus have taken it upon themselves to bring this forth in their vassals even if it was not considered a native talent.
Structure
Like all Emerald clans, noble families with familiarities with the Dragon Lords maintain the primary reigns of power, so that their dragon lords need not meet or adjust to other varied individuals. The clan is lead by the eldest of the Dragon Lords and by proxy their kindred which is generally an inherited position.
Culture
Viridian prefers its isolation but finding themselves between warring factions has not allowed them to remain as unmolested as they would hope. They as such have one of the strong militaries of the Emerald Clans, constantly studying war but preferring to not engage in it if they can help it. Viridian also favors psionic aptitude, those having it generally being considered of higher standing in society.
Public Agenda
Recovering quickly from quieting, members of the leading families stepped into the power vacuum to ensure their dragon lords holdings were not threatened with enemies on most sides. They are curious with what the Ary will do in this time, but are cautious to not overstep themselves while their masters slumber.
Assets
Viridian boasts robusts gem mines, close subteranean allies, and some of the most prolific psionic bloodlines in the world.
History
Viridian has found itself embroiled in all of the Dragon Wars, the first in defense of the Ary, a strong position they hold less and less as the millennia tick on. The Second as their lands were taken and then usurped. The Third when they attempted with little success to regain control of their lost territory.
Demography and Population
Virdian favors Dwarves(60%)as their vassals, but have found a fondness for Gnomes(15%), Halflings(15%), and encourage Half Dragons(10%), but rarely wish to get to know any vassals to aide in their flourishing.
Agriculture & Industry
Viridian has several succesfull farming communities among the hills outside their mountain domain, these produce mostly hops for ale, basic food staples, and roaving herds of sheep and goats. From their mines come exquisite Emeralds and Sapphires, as well as a strong gem cutting industry.
Infrastructure
Viridian utilizes a shared underground road network with their Sapphire Dragon allies to move between their surface dwellings.
By Reason, thru Wisdom
- Mind Shield: Members of the clan are vigorously trained in psionics to develop the talents and be aware of them. As a result they are more resistant to mind altering powers. +1 save vs any mind altering affect
- Psionic Aptitude: Even races who do not normally have access to psionic classes may select a psionic class.
