Sehanine

Sehanine, Goddess of the Moon and greater deity of the Light Pantheon, is a mystical deity of dreams, mysteries, and the subtle power of the moon. Known as The Dreamweaver, The Silver Huntress, and The Lady of Twilight, Sehanine embodies the shifting phases of the moon, the tranquility of night, and the protective mysteries that lie within dreams. She is revered by elves and others who seek guidance through intuition, reverie, and inner reflection.

Physical Description

Sehanine is often depicted as a graceful, ethereal figure with pale, silvery skin that glows faintly under moonlight. Her long, silver hair flows like a waterfall of starlight, often adorned with small, delicate lunar symbols and strands of stardust. Her eyes are typically shown as a shifting silver or pale blue, holding a calm, enigmatic expression that suggests hidden wisdom. She wears robes woven with silver threads, resembling the night sky speckled with stars, and carries a crescent-shaped bow.

Her appearance is soft and dreamlike, invoking feelings of peace and tranquility but also a sense of mystery. Followers believe that during the full moon, her light touches the world, revealing hidden truths and bringing protection to those who seek her blessings.

History

Sehanine’s journey began in the Divine Era as an elven Icon, a figure of grace, wisdom, and strength. She was admired by the elven people as a protector and a master of illusion and dream magic, helping them understand the mysteries of the Weave. During her mortal life, Sehanine was known for her compassion and the calm strength with which she guided her people through difficult times. She often provided comfort to those grieving or seeking guidance, becoming known as a guardian of dreams and a voice of intuition.

When offered the Rite of Rebirth by XXXXXXXXX, Sehanine accepted, undergoing trials that tested her compassion, her understanding of balance, and her resolve to guide others without controlling them. She passed, ascending as the Goddess of the Moon, gaining power over dreams, illusions, and the cycles of the night sky. Her ascension allowed her to bring a divine level of guidance to her followers, offering them insight and comfort in their times of need.

As a deity, Sehanine despises undead, viewing them as unnatural and disruptive to the cycles of life and death that she holds sacred. In her wrath against those who seek to defy death, she cursed all undead, causing them to lose control of themselves and be thrown into chaos on full moons. This curse serves as a reminder of her disdain for the perversion of death’s natural order and her role as a protector against the forces that seek to break it.

Divine Intercession

Sehanine blesses those who honor life’s mysteries and defend the natural cycle of life and death, particularly in their battles against undead.
Minor Boon: Dream’s Insight
Once per day, when you make a check to interpret a dream or decipher a mystery, you gain a +2 status bonus on the check. Additionally, if you meditate or sleep under moonlight, you may receive a minor vision or insight granted by Sehanine.
Moderate Boon: Hunter’s Moon
You gain the effects of see invisibility as an innate divine spell once per day. When cast on a night of the full moon, this effect lasts for an additional 5 minutes. This boon aids you in uncovering hidden foes, particularly those of undead origin.
Major Boon: Moon’s Wrath
Once per month, during the full moon, you may cast moonlight ray (heightened to a level equal to half your level, rounded up) as an innate divine spell. This ray deals extra damage to undead and forces them to make a Fortitude save against being controlled. Those who fail the save become confused until the end of their next turn.
Minor Curse: Unease Under Moonlight
If you defy Sehanine’s edicts, she instills an unease in you whenever you are under moonlight. You take a -1 penalty to Will saves when exposed to direct moonlight until you aid someone in seeking guidance or embrace a life-affirming act.
Moderate Curse: Dreamless Nights
For betraying her principles, Sehanine withdraws the comfort of dreams. You cannot benefit from restful sleep and are constantly fatigued until you aid someone in need or protect a community from undeath.
Major Curse: Eternal Midnight
Sehanine marks you with an aura of bleak darkness. Undead sense your presence and are drawn to you, regarding you as an enemy. Additionally, all dreams you experience are replaced with nightmares, leaving you fatigued upon waking until you perform a significant act of purification against undead forces.
