Tiifen phonetical writing system

The news must have shocked the scribes, who had been the only ones to use writing since its invention. A system that could be learned by simple sailors and traders was a serious menace to their function so full of prestige.   Their decadence, however would still take long decades to happen, and sometimes even centuries: the simple folk, farmers and shepherds, were too busy to learn it, or simply uninterested.
-- The Legacy of the Tiifen

Utility

The main use was, of course, communication. It is was specially used to register transactions, storage and other relevant information to the commercial class.
Inventor(s)
The Tiifen people. It is not known if the idea came from a single individual or a group.
Access & Availability
Before the tiifen system, writing was accessible only to scribes and nobility, who would be wealthy and carry a very good life.   With the phonetic system, common people could learn writing and the need for scribes was lowered significantly. The scribes, however, still lasted for a long time, before writing became universal.   Of course, at the beginning, only the people more close to the trading activity would learn it, but with time it was spread to many sectors of society.
Complexity
The tiifen system was simple and easy to learn, although, of course, it was needed some pracrice and dedication.   The other systems, by comparison, needed a deep understanding of the culture of its users and could be very confuse for non native writers.
Discovery
The first phonetical writing system was created by the Tiifen people, around 2500 B.F.   Their main activity was the trade, and for that reason they needed a simple way to communicate to foreign people and register their activities. Since most writing systems at that time were pictographic or ideographic, usually complex to learn, they couldn't use them practically.   The invention of a writing system based on sound, and not ideas, made the communication easier for both sides and become very popular.
