Flusserdorf City

Flusserdorf City is the most populous and one of the oldest cities in Kameria. Having built itself as the major port city for the state of the same name in pre-federal days, Flusserdorf City is now a major artery of commerce, science and culture.

History

Flusserdorf was one of the first settlements to be founded during Kameria's infancy. Even in those days, Fifeland's border ended on the Sift river, so leaving and starting one's own community was as simple as crossing the river. The initial settlers chose a small patch of land downriver from Fifeland's own major city on the Sift. The only problem being that this small patch was completely cut off from the rest of the land by a 300 foot high cliff.

So, for a time, the Fifelanders didn't worry about this little fit of ideological pique. Surely, they'd find that only being able to access the rest of the world through a river that Fifeland controlled wasn't a viable way to live, and they'd rejoin the fold soon enough.

When they started cutting a path into the cliffside and building at the top, the Fifelanders began to sweat.

Notable Landmarks

The Shattered Stein: The soda fountain that tourists in Flusserdorf flock to in order to experience the "authentic" Kamerian soda fountain experience
Cliffside: A neighborhood of the Flusserdorf City that exists right at the edge of the Upper Districts and the Docks Districts. The gorgeous views make it highly valuable real estate. It also features a walkway right along the edge of the cliff known as the Cliffwalk. Street food vendors come to this area in droves, and one famous attraction is a glass walkway out over the edge of the cliff.
Dienner's: The soda fountains that locals go to in order to get a quality drink. It's located less than half a block away from The Shattered Stein on 13th Avenue.
Praum University: A world renowned institute of higher learning, most famed for its breakthroughs in the arts, environmental sciences and green technology
Grand Edelweiss Station: A major passenger rail terminal for Flusserdorf and Kameria as a whole. And once the northern terminus of the Flusserdorf Central Railroad's 4th Era Flyer express service.

Industry & Trade

Flusserdorf is the primary port of call along the Sift River, and much of the city's wealth comes from the Docks District. The city is also home to Praum University; one of the world's most prestigious institutes of higher learning.

Architecture

A majority of Flusserdorf City's architecture favors stone and brickwork buildings with distinctly rectangular profiles. Brickwork rowhouses are a common sight on the city's streets. As with the rest of Kameria, Flusserdorf City has a long tradition of building with environmentalist principles in mind. Trees and planter patches line the streets, and if a roof doesn't have solar panels, chances are it has a garden or lawn in its place. Rooftop lawns are almost always communal spaces, and its not uncommon for parties to be hosted there for the tenants of a certain apartment block.
