Tiburoks

Tiburoks are a Parahuman race that lives in different regions throughout Erdezwei. They're made distinct by their taller than average frames (with tiburok women being taller than men on average), muscular, lightly scaled bodies, broad, finned tails and short snouts. Overall, their physical build makes the Tiburoks well suited to living in swamps, wetlands and coastal waters.

Physical Appearance

Starting at the head, tiburoks often have fibrous, dark colored hair that tends towards dark blue, but can also be grey, black or white. Their ears are pointed and angled towards the back of the head. Their eyes feature two eyelids, one of which is transparent to allow for vision while submerged in water. Where most spoken races have noses, the tiburoks have short snouts that encompass where the mouth and nose would typically go. They don't usually extend much further off the face than the noses of other races either. They also have a mouth full of sharp, pointed, and easily replaced teeth.

Moving down to the torso, tiburoks don't differ much from the other spoken races, save for a pair of gill-like structures at the bottom of the ribcage that serve as an alternative way of getting oxygen to the lungs while underwater. As well as having a broad tail that acts as a rudder while swimming. Tiburok legs are plantigrade, but with claw-like toenails and some webbing between each of the toes.

Tiburok Ethnicities

The Samori: Native to the southwest of Kameria, in the region that's now the state of Samor. Their bodies are covered in small, fish-like scales that give them a smooth and vaguely shiny appearance, and tend towards colors of dark, pale blue and white.
The [As of yet unnamed]: Native to [as of yet undecided]. Their bodies are covered in broad, hard scales that tend towards green and pale yellow.

Social Issues

There are longstanding negative sterotypes about tiburoks, depicting them as dumb, brutish and aggressive. A depiction perpetuated by misconceptions and oversimplifications of history (many of which center around vilifying their long history of making a living as hunters and mercenaries), as well as negative portrayals in media and attempts to paint their heavily carnivorous diet as a sign of natural aggressive tendencies.

This leads to people interpreting any act of anger or even self defense on the part of a tiburok in the most negative, antagonistic light possible. This becomes a particular problem when its a question of legal and criminal proceedings.
"I don't know which one is worse. The people who pretend to be nice to you because they're scared you'll literally bite their heads off if they don't, or the ones that pretend to be nice to you and then get mad when you don't give them a fuckin' medal for showing some basic decency."
-Martin Dosk, Flusserdorf city resident, fisherman, Tiburok.
