Illithid/Mind Flayers

The Illithid are a race of tyrants, corrupted children of the Celestial, Order. In another universe, they assisted Chaos in the destruction of the Celestial Pantheon, even though it brought them to near extinction. When Chaos found Ereanor, the realm Order fled to, it brought with it the 200 or so remaining Illithids. They crossed the cosmos on their ships, called Nautiloids. The Githyanki were created in response to the threat, along with the first dragons. The Gith and the Illithids fought across the Astral plane for hundreds of thousands of years, eventually
