Wrath of the Dragon: Final Arc

Opening: Recap last session:   Last time, the party ventured into the magic city of Shamballah. You retrieved the necessary artifacts, then you raced to the Dwarven Forge, where Killgore used them to forge the rings of hope. There are two hours left until Dragon is able to cast Wish. You are all about 30 minutes by horse outside the walls of the fallen kingdom as the light Solaris is beginning to be eclipsed. A demonic rift thrums in the sky, an unrelenting eye staring out of it.   Beartholomew arrives, to provide a live countdown for the group, he's grown quite a bit since you last saw him.   Colt and Alchemy ride up alongside your group. Let the party talk to them.   Maybe: Sylvana and Faust speak to them. Dragon is at the top of the King's keep. There seems to be a spell that prevents teleportation in or out of the city. The gods are unable to directly resolve mortal conflicts, but they will fight on the battlefield.     As you all are charging into the city, you see that something is starting to spill from the rift. Demons pour out.         PoD: Possibility of Death (for npc)   Different paths:   Guns blazing, main entance: Takes an hour and fifteen minutes minimum. Two encounters on the way.   You all dodge through multiple enemies, witnessing small bits of fights occurring around the Kingdom. You see Sushima, alongside Skeletony fending off about four Grafted hybrids. Sushima stabs one of them through the gaps in Skeletony's ribs.     1. As you all charge down the street three demons land in your way, two of them carrying undead Aquan gladiators. Type: Fight Enemies: Three demons, two undead Aquans, Npcs: Titus PoD?: Yes, Titus will die Titus death: Gilton you hear the loud "Pang" of metal and a subsequent wet thump from behind you. Standing valiantly is a bloodied Titus, who managed to bisect a greater demon at the waist. You look down, seeing a demonic fist going through his torso. "I got your back, Fishman." He falls to the ground, his breathing becoming raspy. "Shit, I think I'm bleeding, am I bleeding?" The wound is growing, tearing his flesh apart as a black shade spreads through his veins. "Fuck, I don't thi-" Titus stops breathing.   Beartholomew update: About 45 minutes left   2. As you continue making your way towards the King's Keep, you catch a glimpse of Boe leading a bunch of his kitchenstaff against a large group of enemies. Just from numbers alone you can tell they are severely outmatched. Type: Fight or run Npcs: Boe PoD?: Yes, if the party keeps going, Boe will die.       After The two encounters: You all are running towards the King's keep, when from above a hoard of nearly hundreds of demons, chimeras, and undead Aquans block your path. You hear Beartholomew's voice in your head. "Guys, there's only three minutes left, you need to go." You hear a booming voice from behind you. "Climb on!" Ragnar is kneeling with an outstretched hand. "I can throw you." A sorcerer stops by and casts fall nullification. "Alright, PREPARE YOURSELVES!" As you all close your eyes, you are shot through the sky at ludicrous speed. The King's keep is approaching extremely fast. Your trajectory has you heading straight for one of the castle's higher windows. It gets closer and closer and soon, you crashing through the stained glass. You all land on the floor, feeling none of the impact, thanks to that sorcerers spell. You've landed in a massive dusty marble floored room. There is a decrepit throne on the far wall. In the middle of the room, Dragon is sitting, legs crossed, in the middle of a dais with glowing runes around the edge.           Guns silenced, through the sewers: Takes an hour and forty-five minutes minimum. One encounter on the way. Titus will try and come with you. If you take this route, Boe, Titus, and Sushima will die.   Encounter: Fight Npcs: Titus PoD?: Yes, Titus will die. Enemies: Five shadowy figures.   As you walk through the putrid and humid darkness of the sewers, you hear someone speaking up ahead. As you get closer, you see a man in a stained once white coat crouched on the ground. Warden James has grown disheveled, now with a mangy beard, and missing an arm, he looks at you all and stumbles backwards. "Please, PLEASE, don't dont hurt me. Please."   Shadows start to leap off the wall, making their way towards you.   The sewer path takes you past multiple ladders that lead out onto the street above where you can hear fighting. You arrive at a ladder, a mossy greatsword sticks out of the ground. The lack of a roof, seemingly destroyed ages ago, gives you a good view of the King's Keep. You seem to be about 18 minutes away from it, with 20 minutes left until the Wish.   End of stealth. Have them leave through a ladder into the keep. Bear guides them where to go inside the building.   You turn a corner. Go up the stairs. You stumble a couple times, until you         You walk into a dilapidated throneroom with dusty marble floor. There is a decrepit throne on the far wall. In the middle of the room, Dragon is sitting, legs crossed, in the middle of a circle upon a dais with glowing runes. He opens his eyes, seeing you. His expression turns sour. "I will not let you take this from me."   Phase one: Only if there's a good amount of time left. Have it be shadowy figures fight you while dragon is behind a shield.     The light of Solaris is eclipsed entirely, leaving only the light of the demonic rift to bathe the world in red. The ritual circle Dragon is sitting starts to expand and pulsate with a dark energy, a swirling vortex forms around him, tearing apart the rest of the aged structure. Stone bricks and stained glass are picked up, hurtling around at insane speeds. Dragon's eyes begin to glow, floating up into the air. He speaks words that you feel overload your senses. "I wish for my family back." A dark energy explodes outwards from him as you all brace yourseves, raising your palms to push back against the magic heading your way.   Everyone roll a d20.   As it reaches you all, the rings on your hands glow a bright white, you feel the spell push up against your palms, as an intense searing pain threatens to overwhelm your senses. The air crackles with an intense energy as you start to lose your footing, the dome starting to expand faster.   Everyone roll a d20.     If a majority of people roll above 10, the counterspell succeeds. If anyone rolls a 20, the counterspell automatically succeeds.   You all dig your heels in, pushing with all your might against oblivion. The brilliant white light of the rings intensifies, to a nearly blinding degree. The dome starts to crack and splinter, the magic flaring up for one last attempt. Everyone roll a d20.   You feel the willpower behind the magic slam against you, but you stand your ground, pushing even harder "noo. NOOOOOO" You feel the dome shatter, as a blinding light radiates from the epicenter.     When you all can see again, you spot Dragon kneeling on the ground with his head down. "You..." He clenches his fist. Standing up slowly, you see small pebbles and bits of rubble begin to float. "Why... you? What makes YOU ALL so determined to stand in my way?" Let the party speak     He makes a gesture with his hands and you suddenly feel breath on your neck, Gilton. "I gave you a chance. I GAVE YOU WHAT YOU WANTED MORE THAN ANYTHING! AND YOU WASTED IT! I suppose, I saw my own struggles mirrored in you. Well, I certainly won't be making that mistake again. It's time I dealt with you like I should have before."         Phase two: Starts out with a Dragon surprise round. Might want to boost his health to 200
Phase three: Dragon falls to his knees, his body shuddering as the rift in the sky groans and creaks. The demonic eye stares downwards, staring into your souls. A smug voice fills your ears, "You've failed me Jaren, you pathetic sack of shit. [chuckles] Looks like I'll have to do this... myself." A purple smoke trails from the eye, snaking down towards Dragon. "Wait, what is-" The magic starts to force its way into Dragon's nose and mouth. His body starts to convulse, his bones breaking and repairing themselves. His skin turns a dark red hue. From his back sprouts demonic wings. Then, everything goes quiet. Dragon looks up, smiling with his now razor sharp teeth and demonic purple and black eyes.   Maybe: Gilton, Kaath speaks to you directly, "Shit, this is bad."
"It's been some time since I was flesh." He marvels at his body, before returning your gaze. "Oh, how rude of me. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Null. Today was supposed to be my rebirth, but it seems I'll have to wait a little longer. For now, I'll just commandeer this fools body." He glances around at the ruined castle, walking over to the throne he nonchalantly traces his finger along the sharp stone, drawing a weird dark purple blood that trickled down the weathered rock. "I don't think this is a place befitting my first combat in a thousand years. Don't worry, I know the perfect spot." He snaps his fingers and the rift in the sky descends. You have no time before the portal engulfs you all, gravity flipping as your nose fills with the scent of sulfur and the feeling of extreme heat overwhelms your senses. You all crash into a raised stone brick platform. On the platform are on has four statues, one of which has fallen over, and a throne made of obsidian. Null callous sits upon the throne with a smug fanged smile. He gestures around. "What do you think? Do you like the smell of decaying flesh, the pits full of sorrowful souls trying to claw their way out? Don't worry, you'll be joining them soon. When I'm done here, there will be nobody left to stop my return." He rises from the throne, chuckling to himself. His hands glow with a dark purple energy and he extends his hand. A portal opens, serrated metal shards flying into his hand, forming a sword, which radiates a sinister energy. He flashes a smile. "This ought to be fun."
Might boost health to 250 for this fight. Have a couple demons fly in.
When you're ready for Null to be defeated: Look around the table and say, "How do all of you want to do this?"   Give him last words to try and break down the party maybe.   Null falls to his knees. "No NO NO NO! I WILL NOT GO BACK, I REFUSE TO BE FORGOTTEN HERE AGAIN!" He starts coughing and hacking as a purple smoke leaves his body. You see demons being pulled into the rift, back into Hel. Gravity flips for you all as you land back in the throne room. The rift begins to weaken, as more and more demons are sucked back into their native realm. Before all of them can be brought through the portal, the rift flickers out of existence. The remaining demons stare at you, then scatter. The solar eclipse ends as the light of Solaris shines upon you, and Jaren, lying broken upon the dais.   If the group decimated Dragon, have his spirit appear to them, before he's taken away.   If the group hasn't automatically killed him: Jaren weakly sits up. "Shit, I can't believe I..(cough). was so blind to the truth. I've done.. such horrible things.. killed so many people... and I have nothing to show for it. Everything I've done, was just to further someone else's goals. I hate that it took.. (aggressive cough) *weakly* all of this happening for me to finally see it. I don't want pity nor forgiveness, that's not what this is. I just wanted to say that I'm sorry." He coughs up a bit of blood. He looks at all of you. "All I took in this life is more than I could ever give back." (Chuckles) "Ironic, isn't it? My quest to bring them back brought me down a path they aren't even on." Jaren can no longer keep himself up, falling onto his back, wheezing.   (Out of breath, wheezing) "I know these words mean very little coming from me, but I need to say them." He struggles to speak, his face getting more and more pale by the second. "Don't let loss imprison you. Don't let it mold you into something you're not. Hold onto the love, the memories. Let them be your strength, not your chains." (Jaren's breathing becomes quiet, his pupils dilate as he stares at the sky. Jaren draws his last breath.)   You can see a spectral form rise out of Jaren. It's a small child. The form of a tall pale woman with black feathered wings appears, "Greetings young soul," she kneels down to be level with him. Are you ready to move on?" He nods his head. "They both walk away, the child timidly waves at you all, as the two of them fade, leaving nothing but feathers behind.   The sky is clear, Solaris casts a warm light upon the realm. Outside you can hear people cheering, celebrating the victory.   What do you all want to do now?
