Bram North

"If there is one Freelancer whom Agent Maine is guaranteed to go after next, it will be Agent Bram North. His high levels of empathy make him an easy target for those who are not afraid to harm the innocent to get what they want. While Maine normally hunts down his targets, I suspect that he shall draw Agent North out by threatening those who are close to him." ~ Aiden Peace, Councillor of Project Freelancer, on the survival rate of former freelancer Bram North.

Physical Description

Specialized Equipment

Agent North's armour was painted a dark purple in colour, as many predatory animals perceive this colour as grey, giving North camouflage against most dangerous animals. This was to ensure that no wild animals or dire wolfhounds would notice North while he was deployed. This armour was fitted with padded shoulderguards, to help North deal with the recoil from his firearm.   Theta is an AI fragment that was surgically attached to the base of North's skull. They share a portion of North's mind, which allows them to communicate through thoughts, not just words. AI fragments like Theta view time at a far different rate than most mortals, making them capable of hatching complex plans while waiting for a bullet to leave the barrel of a gun. This massively increased reaction time means that Theta is never caught off guard or without a plan. Theta has the appearance of a glowing, purple and red, humanoid silhouette. Theta has a vast bank of knowledge that he can share with North at anytime.   North's special equipment was a Domed Shield Generator, which gives him the ability to create a dome of magical energy, protecting everyone within it from harm. Nothing can break this shield, but it cannot be moved once deployed without first shutting it off, and it required power from the Arcane Engine in North's armour.

Personal history

Bram North, along with his foster sister Dawn South, were brought up by the Temple of Hera in Olympia, as is the case with all orphans in Olympia. And while the two constantly bickered as children, they were inseparable. While South was headstrong and brave, North was calm and caring.   As soon as South was of age, she joined the Authenian military, seeing it as her way out of Olympia. While Bram North did not like violence, the last thing he wanted was to leave his sister in a dangerous situation without anyone watching her back, and so he decided to join her, and requested that they join the same unit.   Both North and South showed to be excellent soldiers, and eventually they were recommended to join Project Freelancer by their commanding officer. After a gruelling amount of training and exercises meant to test their mettle, both North and South succeeded in their trials and were accepted into the program.   North became a marksman and a survivalist, meanwhile South had stealth and scouting as her expertise. The two were an effective pair, and were often assigned on stealth based missions together, with South infiltrating and North acting as her eyes. South preferred to use two flintlock pistols, whereas North utilized a scoped musket. For much of their time in Project Freelancer, Agent South held the ninth highest position on the Freelancer leaderboard, with North at number ten.   Roughly one year before the Freelancer mutiny, a mission to assassinate a high ranking member of the Order of The Broken Mask went poorly, and Agent North was severely wounded defending South after she was noticed. Due to his bravery and South's failure, the Director amended the leaderboard, placing North higher than South. South was not one to take failure well, and became quite angry about her current situation. When North was assigned to be given an AI fragment before South, her she became rather bitter and jealous towards her brother.   Agent North was given the AI fragment known as Theta. Theta has a demeanour very similar to a timid and scared child, and was given to North due to his protective and nurturing personality.   When both Agent South and Agent Washington were up next to be implanted with AI fragments, Agent Carolina ceased their schedule by demanding that the Director give her both of their fragments, as she had given the AI fragment designed for her, Sigma, to Agent Maine after his throat injury. The fact that she once again was denied an AI fragment deepened South's growing resentment of her brother.   Eventually Agent Washington and Agent South were scheduled to be implanted with AI fragments, but after Washington was implanted with his AI fragment, the "Epsilon Incident" occurred, and all further AI fragment implantations were halted, meaning that Agent South never got an AI fragment.   Agent North joined Agent Texas' mutiny against the Director after she gave him some crucial information, but as he was assisting Agent Texas, he was stopped by his sister. Agent North and Agent South fought to a standstill, until the resulting chaos from all the infighting almost completely destroyed the hull of the ship, which knocked Agent South out. Seeing no alternative, North escaped the Father of Innovation, dragging his sister's unconscious body.   The two siblings have since made emends, and now spend their days on the run from the Authenian military, ever fearful that the being that was once Agent Maine will come after them in order to get to Theta.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

While North once believed that Project Freelancer was doing good in this world, those days are long behind him. As of now, North has only three priorities that he is devoted to. His survival, to be there in order to guide his sister and to protect Theta.

Virtues & Personality perks

Agent North is incredibly calm under pressure, and tended to try to keep others calm during unpleasant situations. It is due to his level-headedness and calming presence that he was assigned Theta as his AI fragment.   Agent North is rather logical, and rarely gives into emotion during combat, unless it is to protect those that are close to him.

Vices & Personality flaws

North's compassionate nature can be exploited, and he would eagerly put himself in harm's way in order to protect those he cares about. It has caused him to suffer many injuries in the past, and yet his behaviour has not changed in spite of this.

Social

Contacts & Relations

North is incredibly protective of Theta, who he treats more as a child that he has taken in than a piece of equipment. He does everything he can to increase Theta's confidence and assure him that they are safe. Their relationship is closer to that of a parent and child to that of teammates.   Agent North was good friends with both Agent York and Agent Washington. Whenever the three of them were off-duty, they were practically inseparable. North has not seen York since the Freelancer Mutiny, and has not spoken to Agent Washington since the "Epsilon Incident" that left him in a coma for a week, during which the Freelancer Mutiny occurred. Seeing as Agent Washington appears to still be in Project Freelancer, it is unlikely that he and North will ever cross paths, unless Agent Washington is sent to recover North's armour if he should die, to ensure that neither the Meta, or anyone else for that matter, could obtain his equipment and AI fragment.

Family Ties

Ever since the Freelancer mutiny, North and South have been trying to repair their relationship, though progress is slow, and occasionally stagnates due to South's temper and her tendency to be rude to Theta.
