Clan Laoc

"Through my travels thoughout the Ceilic Region, no clan welcomed a foreign scholar more than Clan Laoc. They saw an abjuration wizard before them, and they immediately started listing all the supernatural entities I could get rid of for them. The way they saw it, I could study the strange creatures of this land whilst ridding them of a problem." ~Church Paratir, Grand Archivist of the Authenian Archives.
Clan Laoc is one of the five clans that make up the Ceilic Region. Compared to the other clans, Laoc is rather orderly and authoritarian.

Structure

Clan Laoc is ruled by Chieftain Hugon Edanis, who is known for his brutality, love of battle and his insatiable greed. He demands that all members of his clan pay tribute to him. ome of this coin is used to fund the clan, but most is hoarded by the Chieftain.   Tyrin Aonach is a druid that serves as an advisor to Chieftain Edanis. He both guides those within Clan Laoc on religious matters and heals those who are sick or wounded. Due to his old age, he knows the entire Ceilic Region like the back of his hand, and uses this knowledge to advise Hugon Edanis in the war against the Venatorians.

Culture

Clan Laoc is more orderly than the other clans, both in terms of law and military strategy. They believe that the only way to survive within the harsh wilderness of the Ceilic Region, is to defy nature. Clan Laoc believes that nature should be tamed, not submitted to. Because of this, they do not worship Gaia anywhere near as much as the other clans do, most of their offerings go to Cronos, Coeus and Hyperion.

Public Agenda

Clan Laoc is currently all that is holding the Venatorian Legions at bay, and it has been that way ever since the destruction of Clan Spartach. They regularly ask for reinforecements from the other Clans, though they themselves refused to help Clan Spartach when they were under siege from the invading Venatorian forces. They have made little progress in turning the tide of the war, which remains in the Venatorian's favour.   Apart from propeling the Venatorians, Clan Laoc has always been driven by the desire to civilise its lands, and make a true nation of itself, though so far this remains an idle fantasy.

Military

Clan Laoc has a formidible military force at its command.   Most civilians within Clan Laoc have at least some experience fighting, and many are being forced into fighting their foreign invader. Each Ceilic warrior is equipped with either leather or chainmail armour, and carries either a spear or sword. Those within the Ceilic Region are excellent survivalists, a quality lacked by most Venatorian Legionnaires.   Rangers sneak through the forests of the Ceilic Region, undetected by all until they chose their moment to strike. Rangers fight with a mixture of martial prowess and druidic magic. They often ambush Venatorian patrols in pairs and tear them apart with both their blades and ancient spells.   Clan Laoc has the fewest amount of druids of any clan within the Ceilic Region, but that does not make the druids they have any less dangerous. Druid always strike fear into the hearts of the invading legionnaires. With the ability to turn into and control animals, bring the very trees alive and even manipulate the weather.

Foreign Relations

Clan Laoc is currently facing the brunt of the Venatorian invasion, filling the fast woodlands of the Ceilic Region with both foreign and native blood. Despite Clan Laoc being the least different clan from the Venatorian Empire, those within the Empire see Clan Laoc as nothing more than other clan of savages, only this time they are in denial over their savagery.   Clan Laoc engages in small amounts of trade with the Authenian Republic, giving them access to small amounts of gunpowder and foreign luxuries.

Laws

The crimes of murder, treason are punnished by immediate death. Those found guilty of this crime will be bound to a tree and have a druid manipulate the roots to strangle the criminal to death.   All other crimes can be paid for either by losing a hand, or paying a hefty fine, depending on the severity of their actions.
