Nymphs
Nymphs are a species of all female, lesser nature gods. They have few powers beyond immortality and so they are not worshipped, though many are revered in some regard as nature spirits.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Nymphs have the appearance of humanoid females, generally with slim builds and long hair. They appear very human though they do have some distinctive characteristics that change depending on what subspecies of nymph they are.
Mountain nymphs typically have light grey or white hair and silver eyes.
Oceanic nymphs have light blue skin and hair, as well as dark blue eyes.
Freshwater nymphs have pale blue eye and some always have water dripping off of them.
Forest nymphs always have either green or hazel eyes, occasionally have light green skin, and nearby plants grow and bloom in their presence.
Biological Traits
Nymphs have minor elemental and divine powers, depending on their subspecies.
Both Oceanic and Freshwater nymphs can breath underwater and also manipulate the water around them. Though Oceanic nymphs have a resistance to the cold and Freshwater nymphs can create small illusions at will.
Mountain nymphs tend to be slightly stronger and more durable than the other types of nymphs, and can manipulate the shape of stone at will.
Forest nymphs are the most agile of the nymphs, can communicate with animals and are immune to poison.
Genetics and Reproduction
Nymphs are an all female race and so they reproduce with the males of other races. Strangely, the union between a mortal man and a nymph always yields with a baby nymph. The only way a nymph can conceive a male child is if their union was with a god.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Nymphs do not need to eat, but most do due to enjoying the experience. Forest, lake and mountain nymphs tend to eat berries, nuts and fruits that they gather from their surroundings and do not tend to eat meat, though those who worship Artemis break this commonality. Oceanic nymphs tend to eat certain types of seaweed and kelp.
Behaviour
Nymphs are generally peaceful, if somewhat timid towards mortals. They are rather gentle souls, with very little in terms of greed or burning ambition. Nymphs are often very close with the other members of their group, though occasionally one may feel alienated and instead wander into civilization.
Additional Information
Social Structure
Nymphs tend to live in groups ranging from six members to twenty. They typically have no need for leadership, and the groups are more familial than political or martial.
Average Intelligence
Nymphs tend to be incredibly intelligent and wise, due to how long they can live. They have extensive knowledge of nature and geography, though most are somewhat unaware of most civilizations' traditions and histories. Due to their immense intelligence, many nymphs have been employed by the AAC.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Nymphs have far superior senses to a mortal, with hearing more akin to a wolf or other predatory animal. Nymphs can see in the dark and can see through illusion spells that are not divine in origin.
Civilization and Culture
Beauty Ideals
Nymphs have a dislike for the overly unnatural, and so they find things such as perfume and tattoos to be repulsive, and find things that have been left as nature intended, such as long hair, to be attractive in potential partners.
Relationship Ideals
Nymphs like to see themselves as an equal in their romantic relationship, and do not seem to care for being treated as overly fragile or a damsel in need of constant care. They prefer respect to chivalry.
In locations where many nymphs live urbanised lives, many prefer for their husbands to take the role of caregiver for any daughters they have, whilst they go out into the world and do their job. This situation is quite common in Ilios.
Common Etiquette Rules
Nymphs tend to be kind and soft spoken, yet they can anger quickly when not treated with the same respect they extend to others.
Common Dress Code
Most Oceanic, Mountain and Forest nymphs tend to wear stolas, as they are simple and practical. Some Freshwater nymphs spend the majority of their lives naked, as they spend most of their time swimming in lakes and rivers, though when outside of these areas or when interacting with those outside of their group.
Historical Figures
The mother of Hermes was a Lake Nymph by the name of Maia, and her son inherited her cunning and wit.

Average Weight

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Most nymphs have skin colour very similar to humans, though sometimes their skin appears in other colours. Forest nymphs sometimes have a light green skin, some mountain nymphs have grey skin and occasionally oceanic and freshwater nymphs have light blue skin.
