The Custorts
The Custorts are undying soldiers made by the necromancer Arcendor Gravis. They serve as guards to certain areas of the Venatorian Capital City.
They appear as pitch black featureless humanoids with glowing blue eyes and smoke eminating off of them.
Most Custorts were constructed from the bodies of dead adventurers found in Grey-Antler Woods. Arcane Adviser Arcendor Gravis has on occasion sent small groups of Custorts into the cursed woodlands to recover bodies.
What makes the Custorts such a formidable fighting force is their undead nature. Custorts are capable of climbing walls, unnaturally keen senses and an inability to die. When a Custort is "killed" it writhes on the ground in agony whilst shrieking, drawing in other nearby Custorts. In mere moments, the Custort's body will repair itself, and it will get back up.
The creation of the Custorts significantly altered the balance of power within the Empire. Before their creation, everyone below the Emperor himself was considered to be disposable, yet the Custorts obey one man and one man only, Arcendor Gravis.
