The Helion Spire
Dragon Turtles used to wander the shores of the west, coming out of the Tonitru Ocean. They would cause multiple deaths every year, and would wreak havoc upon any Venatorian fishing vessels. That was until Vigilo Angelius ordered the construction of a massive device, capable of raining solar fire down upon all that stood against it.
Purpose / Function
The Helion Spire was made with the purpose of repelling Dragon Turtles away from the western shore of Eregost. It ensures that they stay away from Venatorian territory. While is has never been officially used on a mortal target, the Helion Spire is more than capable of burning nearby ships if its operator decided to.
"Why is it that whenever the Venatorians create a brilliant invention of great potential, its always a weapon?" ~Levoith Silverscribe, Head Researcher of the Authenian Archives.
Denizens
The legionnaires and velites that are within the Helion Spire were specially trained in order to know how to utilise this great weapon. While they rarely have to deal with any actual threats, they are well prepared for that eventuality. They are rather relaxed for soldiers of the Empire, due to their lack of intense combat. They spend their days playing card games and keeping watch for Dragon Turtles, and often spend their nights drinking and singing.
Architecture
The Helion Tower is made out of grey adamant and decorated with silver and gold in order to signify its vast importance. It is roughly 324 meters tall and 25 meters wide. Within the Helion Tower is a barracks for the legionnaires and velites that occupy the tower and operate its weaponry. There are multiple flights of stairs required to reach the summit of the tower, where the source of its light originates.
A vast array of crystals and class, sealed within a glass dome, this weapon is called The Eye of Sol, and is used to focus solar rays to a lethal intensity and redirect them at the intended target.
Defenses
The Helion Spire concentrates beams of sunlight down upon its targets, and burns them as if they were vampiric due to the sheer intensity of the light. It can burn targets that are several kilometers away, and can target up to five enemies at once. While these rays are only present when the sun is out, they make up for their lack of reliability with their sheer power.
The walls of the Helion Spire are made of grey adamant, lightened with silver. These walls are impervious to mortal weaponry, making the tower incredibly durable and ensuring the safety of the operators within it.
There are several canons mounted on the Helion Tower, ensuring that the tower can still defend itself after nightfall or during a particularly cloudy day. While these canons are no where near as effective as the beams of light that shine through the tower, they can be used no matter the situation.
There are three Custorts patrolling the outside of the Helion Spire, and while their presence certainly causes discomfort to the legionnnaires and velites that operate the Helion Spire, their lethality and defensive capabilities cannot be understated. These three Custorts are the only ones that can currently be found outside of Venator Turrim.
