It is 1326, relations between the Venatorian Empire and the Authenian Republic are strained. It has entered the fifth year since the Venatorian Empire declared war on the Ceilic Region, and all its inhabitants.

It is four years since the destruction of Clan Spartach, and Clan Laoc is beginning to buckle under the increasing violence from the Venatorian Legion. If Clan Laoc were to fall, the Venatorian Empire would have a foothold within the Ceilic Region that would allow them bring the full force of their military into the region in order to destroy the other Clans.   Dissent is on the rise in the Venatorian Empire, leading to brutality used to quell riots and criminal activity. Auxiliaries have been given permission to make an example of those who support outlaws such as the Adamant Wolves, and Triarii have had their already poor reputation tarnished even more when they began to deal with rioters using lethal force.   Within the Authenian Republic, the fields of technology and arcane magic have entered a golden age of oportunity. The hazards of the natural and supernatural world are being kept at bay through the use of innovations such the freelancer agents, and the widespread use of protection glyphs.   Despite the Empire of the West, and the Republic to the East, the world is a largely untamed place. Mercenaries and Areites freely roam looking for a profitable or envigorating fight. Undead beings and monsters are nestled in ancient tombs and dragons maintain their territory, waiting for any settlement to show signs of weakness so that they can plunder and add to their treasuries.
