Bloodsworn Blade
This longsword is black with hints of red in certain lighting. Those holding the Bloodsworn blade can sense a hunger for blood from the weapon.
The wielder of this longsword may swear an oath to the devil from which this blade was forged to kill a single, specific, individual. The devil of the weapon attacks more eagerly and bites more deeply against the target of the blood oath but is reluctant to attack those that do not have an oath sworn against them, as long the sworn enemy lives.
For every 24 hours that elapses that the wielder of the Bloodsworn blade does not actively pursue the sworn enemy, his health and morale begins to fail as the devil of the blade goads the wielder into action. Ultimately, the devil may even possess the wielder for periods to move the quest forward.
The wielder of the blade may not renounce a blood oath sworn on the blade. The blade cannot be given away as long as a blood oath is active unless the new wielder agrees to also take on the unfulfilled oath. If the wielder of the blade should die while there is an active blood oath, the devil of the blade may even hold the soul of the deceased wielder in its corpse (provided there is enough corpse left) and cause it to rise up as revenant to fulfil the oath. If, under some circumstance, the blade should find a new owner while there is an active blood oath, the devil of the blade will begin to influence the new wielder to go after the target of the oath, revealing the identity of the target through dreams, portents and subtle influences.
The blade is sentient and can be communicated with psychically.
