The Missionary

The Missionary is the patron of law and good.
The Missionary is seen by its worshippers as promoting the actions that reduce suffering in the world, often through organized efforts. The methods Its worshippers claim that It endorses range from pacifistic relief efforts to liberation from despots by the sword. A common belief is that organized efforts and institutions dedicated to these goals are more productive than individuals acting on their own.
The Church of the Nine Divines maintains that The Missionary is the patron of both pacifics and paladins, encouraging change for the better through the most peaceful means possible, but not afraid to raise a sword when necessary to save lives or put down tyrants that oppress others.
The Missionary is popular with nobility that wish to (or wish to appear to) rule for the betterment of the masses and consider their role as leaders to be a serious responsibility.
The Missionary is a member of the council known as the Hierarchs (including The Unyielding and The Tyrant) and the group known as the Celestials (along with the Benefactor and the Liberator).
The Missionary is diametrically opposed to The Ravager both ethically and morally.

Holidays

On the eve of every year’s end, clergy organize the Feast of The Missionary. This feast (traditionally consisting primarily of seafood, rice, and spices, as well as copious amounts of springwine) celebrates the end of a year and the beginning of a new one. A ceremony before each feast incorporates the idea of casting off the shortcomings of the previous year, purifying the spirit, and building enthusiasm for the year to come.
