Juranis, God of the Open Sea (juh-RAN-is)

Juranis is often referred to as the god of the Sea, he is worshiped by Sailors, Pirates, Water Elementals, Water Genasi, some Aquatic Elves and others who feel a bond with the Ocean's destructive power. The weather is often a reflection of his current mood, so those who venture out on the open water often leave him tribute before departure. He general watches out for his followers and even those who leave him a tribute. However, when angered, his voice cracks like rolling thunder sending lighting storm into the sky, his foots stomps creating the seas to turn and his hands lash out sending tsunamis out towards land. He champions the daring sea captain who can sail his ship through anything, rewarding them with gold, power, and prestige however, his champions often change like the wind sudden and quick.

The church of Juranis has only one official holy day known as the Shattering. The exact date of the festival is varied but is always celebrated in the spring. The purpose of the festival is to celebrate the breaking up of ice floes in the north, which marks the beginning of the sailing season.
