Weldrake

This small village is nestled along the Thunder river and thus important staging location for the Thunder River Lumber. It’s also supports a wide variety of farm land which includes wheat, barley, hops and various herbs. They are also know for the pumpkins grown for the feast of souls. The village sees its fair share of visitors as the Long road passes through its heart, as well as log riders looking for a hot and a cot. However, even with frequent traffic the town still supports its folk feel. The Lord Baron Francisco Borgo oversees the town from his mansion in the noble district. For immediate issues he has appointed his cousin Markus as mayor.

Government

The village is governed by the mayor who is appointed by the baron. Guards are hired and paid for by the baronship. In return for this a taxation is collect from its inhabitants.

Industry & Trade

The village receives a fair stipend for Thunder River Lumber for use of its waterways, land for its staging and encampments along its river banks. The village also has some major exports such as wheat, barley, herbs, hop and ale which is made in the church. They also buy some of the logs that pass through and mill into planks to sell.

Assets

A millery which cuts logs and mill herbs. A Blacksmith tended by an old grumpy dwarf and lastly a large inn called the tin cup.

History

Autumn massacre

During the harvest of 1182 of the famed pumpkins that are grown for the feast of souls Bartell Jenkins attacked his fellow villagers. He managed to kill nine and wounded two before felling into the wheat fields. Bartell was later arrested and convocated of murder with the eye witness testimony of his sever boy Benjamin Thomas who saw him cleaning blood off hands before hiding his clothes in the basement. The night before he was to be hang he escaped and fled Weldrake never to be seen again.

Points of interest

To the east of Weldrake lays the Whittomb Manor house which has lied in ruin since the dreadful accident.
