Spir Sellere
The Spir Sellere — Elven for the protected tower— is the head quarters of the Wizards in Tir-Onial. This massive building is actually three buildings in one and houses both the magic college and library for the wizards of the city. It was built centuries ago and had grown over the decades as the wizards and archmages add to the structure with magic. From stone sculptures, to trees growing inside the buildings, they work nature with their spells to mold the environment around them.
“Fools!” the man shouted, the darkness gone from around him. “Do you know whom you stand against?” Somrael was the first to his feet, his hands drawing his own sword with a quickness befitting a warrior trained in battle. “Wait, Belin Waverly? Is that you? My old girlfriend from magic school?” he chuckled as he helped Salen up, then Joras. “I thought you gained some weight.” “Infidels! Quip all you want, but it will be your last.” The man strode forward with such confidence that it caused most of them to take a step back...all but one. Salen stood and took a breath. “Som, get them on the horses and ride for Lyr’alan.” He muttered something else to himself and a wall of earth rose up around the man, then came crashing back down just as quickly. “Damn, this could take awhile.”From Dragon Caller, Rise of the Archmage book 1
Hall of Stones
This is the main hall of Spir Sellere and is where the wizards come for instruction into the beginnings of magic (see sidebar on magic.) Young elves — and occasionally half-elves — come here to be indoctrinated into the order of wizards and choose their first stone. This is a process that involves attuning to a force that calls to them by trial and error. The Hall of Stones serves as the classroom part of the building and has over fifty classrooms on all sorts of subjects, as well as three very large 'open' rooms to practice casting. At any one time there are well over two hundred students here vying for attention and honor, and a staff of thirty masters to teach them.Hall of Learning
This is the building on the western side of the structure and houses the largest library in all of Erendor. Thousands of books are kept here on every subject that can be thought of and even some that have been forgotten. The master librarian is an old wizard named Lillibeth who takes her responsibilities very seriously. She can always be found here, regardless of the time of day, and the running joke is that she has a secret room here. More than one student has actually become lost among the rows of shelves and twisting turns of the multitude of books.Hall of Rest
This is the building on the eastern side of the structure and houses the quarters of the wizards attending the college. Since elves do not sleep, very few rooms have true beds, having instead day couches to drift on. This building is two stories high and has a sub-level floor for the masters as well. Most first year students stay three or four to a room, but fifth year students only stay two to a room. Even though elves take decades to master their stones and magic, the college only keeps students for ten years, teaching them the basics of at least one stone and mastering it.Purpose / Function
The purpose of the college is to streamline the teaching process and stop a lot of the private teachings that rogue wizards were teaching hapless young elves. Bad habits, unnecessary risks, and plain old bad decisions are mostly erased and the elves walk away with some real groundwork and knowledge from multiple masters.
Alterations
Over the years he college has been modified by the masters and archmages that have taught here. they all add their special touches to the foundations, grounds, and even structures with magic. Fountains, trees, everlasting flames, all are works of past masters that have graced theses halls.

Magic in Erendor
Elven wizards of Erendor channel the forces of the world around them by focusing that power into precious stones matched to those forces. This is inherent to all elves, bound in blood by an ancient pact, and cannot be taught to anyone not of elven blood. However, a wizard can only channel so much power through these stones and if pushed too far, the stones will detonate, throwing the magic back onto the caster. This is why the elves take centuries to master the stones, attuning themselves to them and the power they represent. There are eight stones in all, each representing a different force and if one masters all eight stones, they attain archmage status.- Quartz (earth)
- Garnet (fire)
- Peridot (wind)
- Coral (water)
- Jet (shadow)
- Jade (mind) T
- opaz (physical)
- Kyanite (heal/spirit)
Salen Valari was a wizard, and quite a talented one at that. A prodigy among his peers, he mastered the stones necessary to channel magic faster than anyone they had seen, already attaining seven of the eight stones in just under fifty years. He was apprenticed to the Archmage Lynn’el, one of the oldest elves in all of Erendor, and was well on his way to attaining the title of archmage himself. He just had to learn a little restraint, or so his master said. From Dragon Caller, Rise of the Acrchmage book 1
