Davensford

Davensford is an up-and-coming town perched on the edge of the Shallows, providing a link to other coastal areas north of the Tangled Lynx. A hardy folk on the edge of civilization, the Davensford populace is home to farmers, woodcutters and prospectors drawn to stories of gold in the foothills of the Caracal Cliffs.

Like most homesteads surrounding the Caracal Cliffs, Davensford was founded after the Krovian Empire declared victory over the Warlords Alliance, pushing the Caelian warlords back to the Northlands. Centuries later, the people of Davensford remain caught between two human cultures as Caelian roots remain and wrap around modern-day Rashemi. While most Krovians foster a deep hatred for the Warlords Alliance, Davensford embraces their unique lifestyle without judgment, thanks to the distance between themselves and the capital city.

Government

Davensford is represented in the Krovian Empire by Nicholi Clement of House Clement. House Clement is one of the Seven Great Houses that serve King Marivaldi Dominus III by providing council on the Court of the Golden Throne.   Each of the Seven Great Houses owns substantial land and looks after settlements under the empire’s banner for the King. House Clement is responsible for Cadocia and Davensford, and while they do not keep a residence in either, they appoint a Townmaster to serve as a judge in minor disputes and keep records in their stead. The current Townmaster of Davensford is the cheerful yet timid Harvin Alaric.

Industry & Trade

Adjacent to land rich for farming and near the Tangled Lynx forest for woodcutting and logging, Davensford supports multiple industries. Most of the town's wealth, however, comes from mining in the nearby Caracal Cliffs for gold and iron.

Guilds and Factions

Davensford Miner’s Exchange

The Miner's Exchange is trading post where local miners can have their valuables weighed and paid out. While there isn’t a gold rush in the Caracal Cliffs, wealth is hidden in the nearby streams and valleys to support the many town prospectors. The Miner’s Exchange is led by Guild Master Elara Whitethorn, a middle-aged woman with a calm yet stern demeanor. With the appointed Townmaster lacking a backbone, Elara is the closest thing Davensford has to governing authority.

The Dead Rabbits

Lacking the proper command to chase them off, the Dead Rabbits are a gang of criminals that call Davensford home. Led by a mysterious figure known only as Mulberry, the Dead Rabbits earn their name from their faction symbol, a dead rabbit on a pike. This symbol is also used as an intimidation technique, with a dead rabbit being thrown into homes or nailed to doors “targeted” by Mulberry and his gang of ruffians.

Windwhistle Cavalcade

A merchant company stationed in the Calvae Crossroads and famous across the Krovian Empire, the Windwhistle Cavalcade imports fresh goods, armor and weaponry to Davensford and other small settlements throughout the Tonarian Grasslands. The Windwhistle earn their name by announcing their arrival with wooden whistles as they parade into town to pitch their wares.
