Tieflings

The rarest race in Ereth and perhaps the most distrusted and ostracised. Tieflings are the result of an unholy union between a mortal and a demon. Most are killed at birth, sometime during their childhood by a regretful or traumatised parent, or an angry religious mob who believe the child will bring about the end times. It is a tragedy as a tiefling is just as ordinary a person as any; they laugh, they cry, they get angry, they feel sorrow and even love should they be lucky enough.
Tieflings have similar traits to that of a human with the exception of their skin tone and a distinct pair of horns that grow in during the tieflings teen years. Tieflings come in a large range of colours from red and orange to blue, purple, and even pink. Their horns are of varying shapes and sizes too. Some are long and pointed, others thick and curved like a rams. Their horns are much like the fingerprints of a human, no two ever being the same. But beyond these physical differences, tieflings are as genetically close to humans as you can get.
There are no tiefling communities throughout Ereth, though many have been known to travel to an enclave hidden away somewhere in the Everwood. An enclave where the downtrodden and "freaks" can find peace and acceptance with others of their ilk. A lot of tieflings though regularly end up as wanderers, travelling the road most of their life, taking on mercenary work, or working as travelling entertainers such as jesters, minstrels, or storytellers. Despite sounding like a life of freedom and happiness, it is incredibly lonely for a tiefling for they are doomed to a life of never belonging, never having a home, and never being accepted for anything more than the way they were born. And that could be Ereth's greatest tragedy as who knows what these individuals could provide to the world given the opportunity.
