Spriggan
Also called Grass Imps, Spriggan live in the grasslands known as the Ushanni Verdance. An unfortunate side effect of their main source of food is a feeling of euphoria not unlike a slightly drunk human.
Spriggan spend their days tending to and frolicking in the grasses they call home. As the Ushann towns expand and cultivate more land, the Ushanni are finding more and more of these Imps in and around their homes. They have a tendency of turning over beer barrels and unraveling grain sacks, and they drive the Working Cats to distraction.
The Ushanni children find the imps' antics hilarious, and they even make little stick dolls in their honor.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Spriggan are rather small in stature, one to one and a half feet tall. Their bodies appear to be made of twigs and grass. If there are separate genders, they are indistinguishable to outsiders. The imps are usually naked, but there is one mob that residing near the bog in the southern grasslands that wears clothing.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Spriggan harvest tubers in the Verdance known as Spriggan Fruit as their main source of sustenance. The stalks of the tubers are indistinguishable from the other prairie grasses to anyone but the imps. In Spriggan, the "Fruit" brings on intoxication much like alcohol, however in other beings the effect is more pronounced and for some psychedelic. Unfortunately for humans, Spriggan Fruit can also be fatal, even in small doses. There are some who are willing to take the risk, and for a price, it can be purchased in seedy underbellies, like Basyoon.
