Gobbo Barrel
Similar to the real world's "Pop up Pirate", this game is usually found in the less reputable bars and taverns. A captured goblin is placed into a barrel and swords are placed into slit in the barrel until the goblin runs out of room. Sometimes the words are made of wood, unsharpened metal, or are real, functional swords.
Usually there are between twelve and sixteen slots in the barrel and participants take turns to try and hit the goblin. The first to make the goblin yelp and jump up, depending on the house rules, is either the winner, or is knocked out.
In longer games, it is normal for there to be a "survival" style of play, the idea is to not hit the goblin and stay in for as long as you can. Shorter games are the opposite where you are actively trying to get the goblin.
