Luminous Cap
Basic Information
Anatomy
The cap is a mushroom that grows on trees and rock walls, the cap is relatively flat, with no stalk and is a greenish blue in colour on top with a white-ish underside.
Biological Traits
The mushroom is known to emit a faint greenish blue glow which is useful when it grows on cave walls.
Genetics and Reproduction
The mushroom reproduces like any others by releasing spores into the air. These spores are often illuminated by the cap's bio-luminescence, sparkling slightly, which can attract some animals, which the spores land on and are transported elsewhere via the animal.
Growth Rate & Stages
The mushroom takes about 7 days to reach full maturity.
Ecology and Habitats
The caps like to live on rocks walls and on trees, preferably if there's moss around too.
Additional Information
Domestication
The town of St Camrynne's have cultivated the species and farm them, growing the mushroom on trees and the back of giant sloths. However this is the only known case of purposeful domestication.
Uses, Products & Exploitation
When ground into a dust-like powder, the mushroom can be used in alchemy as an ingredient when making potions of heroism. The mushroom is also used in certain specialized teas and can be cooked and eaten.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
found all over the continent of Zacan with denser concentrations found in the forests of Lyrinthia and the mountains of Vogrhia.

None
Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms
When attached to a tree the mushroom can be parasitic, seeping nutrients from its host. The same happens when growing in the fur of a giant sloth.
Scientific Name
Agricus Luminous
Lifespan
one month
Conservation Status
While relatively rare, the species is not endangered, nor under active conservation
Average Height

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
The cap usually has a greenish blue in colour on top with a white-ish underside. These colours can change slightly depending on health and diet of the mushroom, but normally stay with in the blue/green range of the spectrum. The mushroom emits a bio-luminescent light that matches the cap's colour.
