Flying Emergency Kit

I know you're a juvenile now and think that you can just go flying wherever you want. But you must ALWAYS have your kit on you. You understand?
— An aspirated parent
An essential item for anyone who flies a Dragon, but even more so for those that intend to leave the cities, flying emergency kits hold as much as they can to hopefully allow someone to survive if the worst were to pass. Between falling, your dragon getting killed, or getting lost, there's a wide range of reasons to always make sure you have one you. A standard civilian pack contains the following:

  • The pack itself acts as an auto deploying parachute
  • Two days worth of rations
  • An emergency transponder that directly calls the local search and rescue
  • An emergency blanket
  • A utility knife
  • A multi-tool
  • Two days worth of emergency Lightning magic charged batteries that work for the transponder
  • A first aid kit, with instructions specifically for broken limbs

  • The hope with a civilian pack is that the person who falls is not that far out from a town or city. They will not allow someone to survive for an extended amount of time. They especially do not contain any weapons aside from a knife, which will not do much against Ravagers. The goal is that they will stop someone that falls off their dragon/or is attacked from falling to their death immediately. The parachutes are meant to activate quickly, and are specially made for short falls, given that most civilians use their dragons within cities or for short trips.

Civilian flying emergency kits are common pieces of equipment that can be found at any dragon supply store. Most people don't have to use them, so there are often reminders that the emergency rations within the pack do need to be replaced every 5 years, and that people should, at least once a year, take out the transponder and put it into test mode to make sure it is still functioning properly. The parachute should be checked once a month to make sure that nothing has gone out of sorts, and if any flaws are found, it should be taken promptly to the nearest dragon supply store to be confirmed as inoperable, and replaced.

Falsely activating an emergency transponder is a crime. The exact fine/punishment for doing so varies on the country you do so in.
