Adventurer
Career
Qualifications
Proficient with weapons or magic
Payment & Reimbursement
Adventurers are paid a specific amount based on a given quest, plus any loot they find in the field.
Other Benefits
Few to speak of. Adventurers who live long enough can gain some social standing within the profession. Though rare, the right kind of quest can lead to some small noble title. Many successful adventurers can have their tales told for generations.
Perception
Purpose
Adventuring fills enough roles to be (begrudgingly) considered a social service; a lot of tasks that can't be done by the average person or won't be done by local military/law enforcement falls to adventurers, from simple things like clearing large rats from sewers, slaying goblins or orcs that pose a threat to nearby towns, to big tasks like slaying dragons.
Social Status
Except for a few really influential adventurers, it is not a very well regarded profession.
Demographics
About 10% globally, if that.

Social Services
Demand
Mixed. There aren't always dragons to slay and princesses to rescue, but there will always be giant rats in the sewers, goblins, kobolds and orcs raiding villages, and caravans needing guards.
